Aren't clam-cleats designed to chafe rope ?
I mean,
the cleat has teeth on both sides and then you jam that soft-rope in and out of the jaws,
and then it gets torqued-up under load from the centrelines.
It's on-going maintenance.
There must be a better way ?

I have only just bought my Rev (Grey line) and so can't comment on the wear too much at this stage. However I found my old Fuel suffered the exact thing you are talking about. Not sure what the thing is with the Slingshot lines/ropes, this and pigtails seem to wear excessively. Anyway, after replacing with genuine parts a couple of times I made up my own in the end using kernmantel rope (climbing rope) 11mm diameter. Whilst the rope isn't designed for this use it is very very strong, SWL of around 200kgs (breaking strain is around 1 tonne or more, don't quote me though as the memory is getting hazy but more than you'll need) and after considerable use has shown basically no signs of wear. If you go decide to go down this path you can get your hands on kernmantel ropes in any camping/climbing store. Not that exy either. The only point is the 11mm does lock into the cleat but can occasionally (not very often) pull out and therefore power up the kite. 8mm might be worth considering.

PPS: The wearing of the white rope I would have classified as excessive for the 2 or 3 sessions I had... But you know, new kite, always overly observant... I think the grey lines already have a type of coating on them...

Have any of you guys on the REV changed from the fuel? I have been an avid fuel fan for the past 5 years but have seriously been considering changing to the REV.

How is it for unhooked riding? Any comments would be appreciated.

Hey Captain, I have a fuel as well which has now pretty much been retired. Have had the last 2 days out in 20-25 knots on my 11m Rev and I rate it highly. My whole progression is unhooked wakestyle which is why I chose the Rev and it hasn't disappointed. Very steady pull similar to the Fuels when unhooked. Very quick kite through the sky, direct feel at the bar and very stable. Just started landing backside handlepasses to blind and so long as your hands are centred it just sits where you place it. I don't get to do much wave riding so can't comment how it would fare on the wave face but I would imagine quite well. Certainly for unhooked tricks though I think you would be well happy, as am I.

How does the 13m Rev compare to a 13m Fuel? I have been told the 11m Rev has similar low end to a 13m Fuel. I weigh 90kgs (on a good day, usually more) and have always ridden a 13m Fuel, would you recommend the 11m or 13m Rev as a replacement? Our spot is waveless but throws up a decent kicker every now and then.

Again, any comments would be greatly appreciated as I am about to upgrade.

i used to ride fuels but have converted to rev's and loving them in the surf. i weigh about 90kg and the 11m and 7m rev combo seems to be working perfectly.I get going on the 11m in about 12-13knts and hold the 7m up to about 30knts. I dont fly anything bigger than a 11m anymore and i personally dont think the 13m gets going that much earlier than the 11 due to how light the rev is to fly you can work it and get the 11m going in the same winds as the 13m but have more top end. as to line wear normally i found the first couple of times you use a new bar the chicken rope ruffens up abit but then will stay like that for months and not get any worse. GranG next time your at brighton show us your chicken rope, it sounds fairly normal and shouldn't get any worse

DONT use surf wax, it makes the bar all sticky, hard to move in and out, and gets sand stuck to it, not good
I've got the grey rope and it's still looking very good, as GranG said looks like it already has some some of coating on it

I used surf board wax on my Turbo Diesel and the lines lasted more than a year of heavy usage. Also, make sure that after you set up on the beach that as soon as you get in the water, wash all the sand off your bar setup before starting your session.
