The shark was seen again this morning close to shore at Bent St boat ramp.
See there is a windsurfer that cares about you kiters.

I was wondering why every kiter was on the weed bank in knee deep water, Fricken wuzzes. Not Kahuna though, he was the only stupid one to venture over to Waikiki alone.

SERIOUSLY though, If it was in near bent street, then thats a big shark in very shallow water. Maybe 2m at it's deepest point. If thats the case it must be injured/sick. In 29 years I've never heard of a white visiting these waters so close. I'm not saying they aren't there, as Warnbro sound is prodominantly 60 foot deep all over, and I'm sure they follow the snapper in periodically every November, we just don't see them.

Anyhow I have to work the next few days so can someone please kill it. I've already lost a friend to a white, I don't really want to go through that again.

IMO They no longer require being a protected species. There are regular sightings and the numbers have obviously grown since they where announced "endangered" I say shoot the menace's that reside for extended periods in area's close to shore. I know that comment is going stir up alot of people, but hey it's a fish, no different to a snapper or any other fish for that matter which get slaughtered everyday.

Like I mentioned I lost a friend to one. 2 weeks previous to that there was a shark in waters off perth's coast stalking some surfers at an outer reef, I believe it be highly likely that the same shark took Brad. When Ken Crew was attacked they just followed the shark around for 2 days looking at it. They had every chance to put it to sleep and prevent more families from losing a loved one. But no, let's usher it out to sea so it can come back for an easy feed some other day.

The Oceans, no matter what we think do not belong to us. We just have the ability to ruin them. If a shark swims up to a beach it has every right to be there the water is their home. Having said that I'd be going like a bat out of hell in the other direction. If we have the right to kill sharks why can't the Japanese hunt sharks, whales and dolphins.

Blaster, I'm sorry that you lost a mate to a shark and I'm sorry to sound heartless about it. But at the same time we have no right to define what species are driven to extinction because they’re inconvenient to us. The human race has already done enough damage to the earth and wiped out enough species that we don't have to keep doing it.

LOL They do, everyday in fact.

The point I was making is if a shark comes in close and lingers around the shores then it should be put to sleep, it's more than likely only there for easy prey due to illness. (I'm not saying get ya shot gun boys we're going hunting sharks)
Look at it this way why do we have the right to go catch a snapper bring it home and eat it. It lives in the ocean and it's not even an inconvenience, but we still kill it and remove it from it's environment.

Anyhow I mentioned and understand my comments would up set some people. It's only my opinion. I guess if we stop killing all the snapper and other reasonably sized fish in large numbers then they wouldn't need to come in close looking for other food sources like humans.

BTW has anyone got an update on the shark? I've Been bailed up at work for 2 days and have had no contact with the outside world other than SB.

Consider this: Sharks only spend a minimal amount of time fully at surface with fin exposed. Have you considered how many times a shark knows you are there (given their fantastic sensory organs) compared to the minimal number of times that you notice one (if at all) - there are many videos of sharks following swimmers (taken from choppers etc) but with no knowledge by the swimmer (and no attacks). Sharks are commonplace (especially whalers and bull sharks) - we are most normally something that is invading their space and they just ignore or avoid us. It is only the extremely uncommon events of being in the wrong place at the wrong time when a rogue, startled, scared or inquisitve shark may take exception or a bite to see what we are.

That said I think there should be no hesitation in seeking to destroy a large potentially rogue shark inshore once it has attacked someone.

Large, possibly sick (& therefore even more dangerous) shark close to shore...

It's just unfortuante that when a shark tastes you, to see what you are, they do so much damamge. It has never been proven that when a shark attacks once it is more likely to attack again.

I go into their territory and I do not expect anyone to hunt one down and kill it if it happens to taste me - that's the risk I take and that's what keeps a whole lot of tools out of the water at some of the best spots in the world!

Well we used to kill murderers until the do gooders put an end to that. Drug dealers do get killed, at least if you get caught in Indo.

The trees that fall are proabably going to die once they've fallen.

Bees die after they sting so they get their come uppence.

Jelly fish I'm not sure on, but based on the averages listed above I think it is clear to say that we should kill them all. Darwins theory "the strong survive" and all that. Gather your shootin irons boys!
