Has anyone been happy with their small C kites for unhooked tricks i.e wakestyle/ freestyle. I love my 11 & 14m. But my 8m just is too twitchy. I like my kites to just park in the one spot, while going for passes and rolls. The 8m just doesn't cut it, and that's on a 15" bar with 23m lines. I'm still trying a couple other settings which may help (on the leader lines at the kite), but I'm not optimistic.

I tried the kite on 25m lines and that was even worse. The recommended line length is 21m, which I'm going to try, but I can't help feel its going to make the kite even more twitchy.

Any feedback or ideas is welcome.

Grab her depower line and just slow her down a tad.... shes just a bit excited.

I get around it by splitting the bar. But i find if you are trying super slacky tricks, like mobes. They slack so much that they dont move at all mid trick. But I totally understand. I hate it for anything other thenight loops and mobes

My 9m GP is still ok to unhook on...don't have a 7m GP but yea I think it would be way too fast. I've heard the HifiX is pretty slow for size...only tried the old one but the 9 felt way slower than my GP...

I'm fine unhooking on my 9m Vegas but my 7 just gets used for boosting and hooked in stuff. Gets to 23-25kn and then unhooking becomes relaunch practice cause you crash more I found. (Flat water is a thing of dreams in gero landing in chop doesn't help)

just by glanceing at your situation. sounds like you want a wakestyle kite not a freestyle kite.? if all your after is continuous pull something like a little switchblade might be better then a c kite for you.... but then the line slack may become an issue for you. tuff call i guess but could allways just work on hand placement. i need my front hand to be a touch further away from center of bar to help with kite being pulled to high in the window etc so it just places right in the window and stays there (sometimes :) ) im still kookin it only thing i need is bigger balls for last few years anyways

It all comes down to what you are used to. I know the guys in Maui ride 5's and 7's and do all the freestyle tricks they like in 30+ knots. It's just a matter of getting used to it. Where we fly 8's and 10's day in and day out, if it were 30 knots every day, you just adapt and get used to it. You then spend your time whinging about how slow 8 and 9m kites are

try taking another inch/inch and a half off the bar kungfu.

i run a 13.5 inch bar with my 7 and 9 fuels and it seems to make the kites heaps less twitchy

If you have an old bar, or willing to cut up your good bar. Cut that **** down. A small bar and splitting it and your kite will go nowhere.

Send me all your ****ty small fast kites. I love fast kites. The faster the better. I wish all my kites turned like my 6m.

But i'm not unhooking and dick around in the waves. So fast is better.

I ended up flying the kite on 21m lines and it felt more stable, however it was just as twitchy especially when you make the pass but end up pulling hard. Sends the kite one way or the other. Little scary and unexpected, not what I am used too.

I've consider chopping the bar a little shorter, but one of my mates reckons it could leave the kite being less stable???

Don't know how the guys do what they do on the pro tour with 7m kites, gusty winds and choppy conditions!

I know how you feel, when you catch the bar right at the ends. But honestly, I was hitting a rail yesterday with my 7m gp on a wakeskate. I said it before, just have to split the bar.

OK I'll do it. If the bar is roughly 15", how much show I cut off each side?

Mine is 14 inch.

Ohhh baby! I got an old slingy bar in the shed. Definitely cutting the sh!t out of it this weekend!
