Have you all clicked your thumb icon today ??
Why not ??
It's fun.

That's how we on this forum rate goodness and badness.
We secretly vote.
Clickety click.

Vote for prejudice.
Vote for mediocrity.
Vote for inarticulation.

Clickety click.

lol.
That would be termed 'self-loathing'.

Anyway.......
I'm a little confused.
I'm unclear about this thumb-voting.
I'm not sure what it's trying to achieve.
The fun-element doesn't seem to stand out like a sore thumb to me.
The wisdumb behind it is hidden.

I look at all the little thumb-boxes at the top of each post.
Some with red smudges, others with green stains.
I'm waiting for a box to be fully red.
Like a tiny, traffic stop-light.
What happens then ?
Sin-binned ?

And I'm waiting for a box to be fully green.
The go-light.
Is that when I get my free seabreeze prize ?
(If I can't get the t-shirt or cap, a seabreeze sticker will do.)

Maybe I'm missing something ?
The philosophy may be purposely concealed.
Maybe the amber box is absent.
That cautionary beacon that warns all of us about control-freaks.

The flashing orange light keeps reverberating in my brain.
Flash, flash, flash.
'Control-freak' WARNING !
Actually,
It's starting to give me a splitting headache.
My mind is a mushburger.

There is something very sinister about these thumb-votes....
but I can't quite put my finger on it ??

I'm told it's about having fun and winning prizes.....
and the rating of goodness versus badness.
Are we rating the goodness of the post....
or the badness of its author ??
Or both ?
Or neither ?
Or visa-versa ?
What ?
Which ?

Or is it about forum self-regulation ?
The need for more staff-cuts on seabreeze.com.au maybe ?
Users killing off other rival forum users.
< Folks, the moderator just left the buiding.>
Executions are now done by the people for the people....
the Site washs its bloody hands of this dirty, thankless task.
Lynch-mob mentality fuels the witch-hunt.

Or is it about the threat of internet litigation ?
Kite**** slandering kite-pimps.
Axe-grinders bashing integrous shop-guys.
Lawyers stalking forum-prey while licking their chops with glee.

But the forum nazis can now thumb their noses at flunky lawsuits and plead 'no-liability', man.
"The users are a pack of wild dogs. They govern themselves and eat their young."
hahaah

The forum moderator sleeps peacefully at night.

Roger that.
I've had the last couple of days on the water.
Fanging flat-out on my flat kite.
But the autumn doldrums have now kicked-in.
I'm psyching for those cold-front classics.
Coming soon to a surfbeach downsouth.

I was hoping to be generous and award you a click in the old thumbs-up box, Laurie.
Regretfully,
my voting rights have obviously been taken away.
I click the little box but nothing happens.
I'm shooting blanks, man.
No green stain....
No red smudge in the box.
My secret ballot is......well, very secret.

Unlike in a true democracy,
not all folks are treated equally when it comes to voting in the forum.
Maybe my past indiscretions and my previous forum-misdemeaners have excluded me from the voting roll.
The forum nazis publicly invite 'feedback'.....
but my constructive critique is not always openly welcomed, it seems.
I've been banned from the ballot box.

Yay! Conspiracy! Conspiracy!

Pete - mate - we're flat out building as much new stuff for the site as we can, and I can assure you that a custom "waveslave can't vote" enhancement was/is not on the 'todo' list.

- Did you try a page refresh?
- With many people online, someone may have clicked a down while you clicked an up?
- and many more possibilities...

I hope that helps...
