this is my evil plan for a quiver.

whats yours?

13m edge (12-20 light wind cruising)
11m edge (16-25 launch fest!)
10m c4 (18-30 loops and tricky in waves)
8m catalyst (20-35 waves and gusty conditions)
6m reo. (25-45 storm sessions in the waves)

8m noise (15-25knots waves)
6m noise (18-30knots waves)
shotgun sawn off (everything under 4 foot which is almost all sunny coast gets)
surfing/supping under 15, rarely gets over 30 here.

hehehe. shop owners don't love me. i'm a second hand whore that prays on the week and the elderly to secure fruity hardly used kites and bargan basment prices.(with the execption of the reo which i'm yet to order) all kites in the quiver will have cost between $700 and $500 AUD.

ps 13m edge is not in my position yet.
ps I also have 15m manta and 10m manta for landboarding duties....

ahhh the addiction runs deep.

psss once the quiver is assembled it should last a couple of years. maybe with updated on the most used which will probably be the c4. the extreme upper and lower end will get less usage and therefore give more years usage.

Hey Plummet once upon a time I was 78kg and had a 10m, 12m, 14m, 16m, 18m, and 21m. The 10 & 14 were new and the rest were 2nd hand cheapies.

Ditched that lot (getting too old, too many punctures) for a 11m Edge which covered 15 kts to - -> ? (my balls ran out at 35kts, before kite's top end)

Just got a 17m Zephyr 2nd hand as I'm getting old n fat now and there's already been a lot of 12-16 kt days lately.

I reckon 11 & 17, that's a perfect quiver.

15m Edge - 12-18 cruising and boosting *
12m C4 - 16-25 freeriding
9m C4 - 22-32 freeriding #

140x41 Nobile 50fifty so far seems to do it all. Incredible blend of control and efficiency over a big wind range.

Yep, I'm all about the minimalist simple quiver. If I can't fit it all in a golf bag, I don't need it.

* We'll see how the la Nina situation looks in a month or two before I add the 15, but if anything like last year, I'll be wanting a light wind weapon.

# The number of days each year that I couldn't hold down the 9m and that are worth kiting (not crazy gusty crap) are so few that I can't be bothered with anything smaller.

5,7,9 & 12 Switch Method's.

83kg, Perth, waves mainly, some flatwater freestyle.

Plummet, I can see what you are doing with trying to have different styles of kites with different strong points and whilst it does sound like a good plan I like to stick with a quiver of the same kites.
I used to really mix and match and found that it always took a while to dial a different kite in but now my theory is that if you can find a kite that's strong point is suited to what you normally do (that can also do everything else fairly well), you will find it easier going from one size to another.

ok heres the reasoning behind the quiver. the split quiver of different kites

Well i started off with a minimalist quiver of just the 11 edge using it 13-30.

but my location is hard out waves. as the wind increases so does the glory of the waves. I love high speed boosting and gliding through the air which the edge delivers in gobs. but it really is not the kite for waves. So as the decent waves role in, 20 knots plus, i find myself getting pulled off the faces with the aparent wind power build up of the edge.

so enter the 8m light. (thats now the 8m catalyst). which increased my range to 40 knots. Awesome in waves i could stay upwind in 20 knots but but doesn't boost high until 30-35 knots.

So i now have an issue 20-30 i can go boosting on the edge but not ride waves well or ride the waves on the 8m cat but not boost very well. I want to have my cake and eat it too!

Thus enters the c4. Wow a whole new style of flying again. fast, punchy rides waves well boosts well (but its not as glidy as the edge, not as forgivng as the cat) So this saticfies my hunger for the waves/jump style and also adds powered loops to the mix of fun things.

Now the winter storms yeild some insane conditions here. 25-45 knots and 5-8 meter swells. i need to take advantage of those storms. the riding is spectacular. but the 8m cat is too powered over 35. I need something small and fast with gobs of depower. Enter the 6 reo.

Lastly the 13m edge will fight the light summer days. i figure less wind than that and the landboard will be the tool to use.

The small Reos do feel safe in mental conditions. The depower is the most responsive i've seen yet, as soon as you let the bar out there's no need to edge to slow down, the power is killed straight away.

5m 2008 Waroo. I still cant sell this little gem
8m 2010 RPM. my summer baby
9.5m V3 Kahoona. my light wind all-rounder 12 up to 25 knots, but mainly my wave kite.
1 Slingshot Bar with 20m Lines.
6'4 Firewire, my favourite, surf and kite
6'2 Brewer,
6'1 Webber.
9' mal.
No straps on surfboards.
131 Nobile 2HD.
My best session ever, 18-23 cross-offshore, double overhead on the sets, Kahoona and surfboard somewhere NE of Kuta Bali., It sucks to be a goofy footer in Indo. Best downwinder Seminyak to Chaangu. Perth Waves suck but we have such steady winds and some great freestyle spots

you've got to include an ozone zephyr. the things are huge and take a big pull on the bar to turn quickly, but I have 5 kites and probably use the zephyr more than most of them. probably not the go for waves though, but when the wind is light, it's a winner.

yeah i'm not sold on the zephur. a couple of guys have them locally and i don't see them getting out much sooner or busting any huge floaty airs in light winds.

I like the edge for its insane boosting and glide time.

Hey stuntnaz. the best kiting occurs above 25 knots! get amongst it!

ps now i need to work on my board quiver. A surfboard will be appearing shortly!....

The Perfect quiver - was when I met my new girl

Had been out shopping one day living the moment
got home and out the corner of my eye, there she was laying on the couch, hot n ready for action kneeling beside her, entranced by both beauty and the smooth inviting curves - I slowly moved my hand into her deep crevace, I smiled knowing that i was goin ride this baby for all she was worth.

Ohhh yeahhhh that made me quiver - put her back in the board bag grabbed a beer and said to her, another 10 knots and im gonna do both your concaves at the same time

Gonna weigh in on this testosterone-fest...

I'm 5'3 and what I weight is none of yo' business! but is about average

5m RPM. Don't own it but rode it one session up to 45knots which I would never have thought possible and it was still fun.
7m Core GT. 20 - 30knots. This kite rocks, is so fun in the surf for an intermediate kiter and so fast...
10m Rally 12-20 knots. All rounder.
Need a light wind kite for those sub 12knot days... of which we have all to many on the mid north coast... also to be used for when I dust off the TT on the flat to boost big (hypothetically To be advised.

5'10 BWS epoxy thruster, light and faaaast, unstrapped
5'11 strapped glass no-name eBay special that I had plugs put in, like a comfortable pair of uggs it just feels nice, though it's dented to buggery and has had it's nose snapped off twice
9'4 naish Mana SUP

Wanna add a decent TT to the quiver next year. She who dies with the most toys wins!
