Just a quick heads up to any potential freestyle rippers that want to compete. If you don't get up off your arse now and register for the WA State freestyle comp then it is going to get canned and you will all miss out! The comp is meant to be running on the 14th and 15th of Jan but if we don't get another 30 people register by this time next week then WAKSA is going to pull the plug! and if that happens i dont like the chances of getting it up off the ground next year.

I know a lot of people are planning on "just rocking up and registering on the day" but as has been said before you can not do that. If you don't register before mid week next week you will not be able to compete (thats if the comp goes ahead)

You can see more details and follow the link to register here: http://www.waksa.org.au/kitesurfing-events/events-calendar/event/13-wa-freestyle-championships

Not being in WA anymore I would highly encourage anyone with any sort of freestyle aspirations to compete. WA has not had champs since 2006 I think- 6 years is a long time especially for arguably the best kiting state in Aus/World.

Comps like this help foster young blood, help promote the sport and are a great way to have some fun, meet other riders, learn new tricks.

Get behind it WA kiters.

From what I heard so far this event is about to be canned due to the quota not being filled for registered entrants.

The quota is around 40 entrants and another 30 are required or its canned.

I really want this event to happen as it is the right thing for our sport here in WA as well as the national scene.

What are the reasons for low interest?

I think the expectation of 40 entrants is quite aggressive considering there has not been an event like this in over 6 years or so I heard.

Woodies is a WORLD CLASS venue for this event somewhat like having Pipeline on your doorstep! (If you surfed)

Is anyone willing to get onboard and make this event happen?

It will be a great day out and a lot of fun with lots of different formats, groups etc. So it is not just for 'sponsored riders'.

Can we pull it back?

I know a couple of guys and myself that wanted to enter but only know some basic tricks and dont want to waste others time who are good, but to get the event up maybe ourselves and others in similar situations should enter.

I'll be entering this weekend.

It is not about WASTING anyones time it is about supporting a fun and quality event. The BRITISH KITESURFING ASSOCIATION run a complete circuit of events with a full demographic and standard of rider!

It is a great opportunity for the freestylers to get together and showcase the skills both old and new school and more.

I guarantee if the wind delivers it will be an absolute spectacle and a great day out!

if you are going to register or have let us know in this THREAD as we only have the weekend to sign up or its canned!

I am IN!
