Walk the lines out upwind/downwind?

Been kiting close to 10 years now and always run and attach my kites the same (naturally dependent upon launch location). Always put my bar upwind of my kite and run my lines out downwind to the kite-and do as Rowdy does re running the outside lines out side my legs and centre lines inside-AND I ALWAYS run them twice-that is attach the centre lines and then go back to the bar and run the out side lines-the extra 1 or 2 minutes is nothing to double check etc. And I've never misconnected.

I have a commercial pilot's licence and I think the methodical nature of the training and of doing checklists etc. is just as applicable to launching a power kite as it is to flying a hunka' aluminium and composite-fugg up and can be the same consequences.

Just the way I do it and it works for me-which I think is the most important thing-get a system that works for YOU and do it the SAME way EVERY time-treat it a little like a pilot doing the checklist-the procedure can save your arse.

Just an opinion.

I agree with colinwill78 not only check lines but also check your gear and i dont mind what method people use . I just recon spend a little time on the beach and avoid accidents for yourself and bystanders

Most accidents happen with idiots who insist on self launching or landing when there are plenty of other kiters around to help, This seems to have become more common this year and I am wondering what the hell instructors are teaching these guys.
Sure you need to be able to self launch/land but select the time and place to do it and think about what will happen and where you will go if it doesn't go to plan.
I have found with rigging lines, no matter what way you do it, to reduce the risk of error you need to rig the same time every time and don't get distracted when attaching lines - you'll miss one every time.
