So you going to throw those people in the draw who had a variation of the name you went for?

(Eg., there were a few variations of "Windsports" - and of course I mention this with a vested interest)

2 b honest they aren't clever or new names-a name with multiple meanings will attract more customers cus it makes people think about it and how clever the owner was to think it up

being on stirling hwy with alot of passing traffic, i think its a bit silly not to have kitesurfing or kiteboarding in the title. I think the windsurfing bit is less important, most people buying that gear are already windsurfers who already know about the shop.

People will drive by.

"WINDSUPPLY, WTF is That a whoopie cushion shop???"

instead of

"KITESURFING, OMG I WANT TO TRY THAT!, WOOHOO YEAH LETS GO GET SOME LESSONS AND BUY SOME GEAR"

Thanks alot KAOS for your vote of confidence. [}:)]
Wind toys was one of my suggestions.

At least the name eludes to the customer what type of product the shop is selling.

I would have to agree with Carbine and Kitecrazy hence:

W.I.K.E.D - Windsurf Including Kitesurf Equipment Dealers catchy and clever.
It speaks for itself.

However I must admit Addicted To Wind has a nice ring to it, pity I did not think of that one.

I just hope that the new shop takes people kiting at a better spot than Peli Pt.

With regard to the new name...I feel it important that the shop know what it is going to sell. If it is going to go Kitesurfing all the way, then the name must express that. However, if they are going to sell all sorts of stuff then almost any name will do...like the many mentioned about. I personally would hope that they specialize in Kite Stuff, and have everything in stock. Wouldn't know if the shop would survive given rent, staffing etc....I'm not in the business. They need to do what they love and do it well and the customers will find them.

Most of all, I wish them wind.

Can I suggest that the building be repainted neon orange or black, and put great graffiti-like graphics on it of kites and people.

ya passing people need to b aimed at and shot with marking like its opening day of duck season.
big windows, flags with all stocked manufacturers logos, redo the pavement outside, get rid of the random trophy thing, large front door and gruezi's idea of a colour scheme

the name needs to b one that sounds different, one that people will associate with having fun not one that could b the name of a yachting store.

WOW!

What a surprise!!!!!!!

What can I say.....Well, first I should thank the new owners for choosing my name! It is the best salary I've ever had:) (One glass of wine and a brain-storm hehe). I was actually watching a kitesurfing move when I got the phone call, dreaming about a wave riding kiteboard!

When is the opening day by the way?

Thanks again!
Erlend

Yes, you are correct he didn't post on Seabreeze as quite a few people didn't. We figured not everyone would want give there contact details on the forum.

As was stated in the entry conditions:-

A $1000 gift voucher equates in real terms to $500 cash tops.
So for an outlay of $500, the new shop scored a mailing list,
some backyard marketing that resulted in finding a new business name,
and a forum pimp-fest that dragged on for weeks and weeks that firmly put the word out.

That's cheap marketing/advertising/exposure in anybodys language.
The only problem I can see with the new name is the easy butchering of it by disgruntled customers,
from Windforce to Windfarce.

Good luck.

Waveslave,

Sorry you see it as a negative, certainly the intention was to create interest and promote our new shop, while giving a participant, what we considered a worthy prize. Certainly when I spoke to Erland he was pretty stoked about our competition.

We will be doing our utmost to avoid having disgruntled customers and will work towards WindForce being synonymous with quality products and good service.
