Something weird just happened...

The war office started to bang on about the week ahead and I said "hang on" and opened up sea breeze. Then said "go on", I'm listening. ( well sort of)

Anyhow two things I noticed .

1. Opening up sea breeze was an instinctive reaction to the impending barrage of instructions.

2. She did not even flinch and seemed to accept this is just normal behavior.

Tell me it's normal behavior??

Sounds as close to perfect as you are going to get Eppo, has she got a single sister with the same attitude to DoW??

nah all taken mate. Must admit I did set a precedent in that when were 'courting - old fart word', I missed the first 8 dinner appointments cause the wind was up.

When the second child came though, her and her mother sat me down...bummer (then again both times she went into labour I happen to be kiting he he he).
But have worked this much out married men...

When at home be the father of the farqin year (but hold some back otherwise this becomes their benchmark and the norm), then when wind is up, seeya. Also make sure from time to time you let it all slip, don't do a thing, go kiting for 3 hours 7 days in a row...she loses it, then you crack into the father of the farqin year again and it is like wow!

By the way let's face it we are lazy farqers ultimately. You don't need to try and do the above intentionally it will just happen.

Also another tip...if she wants to go out with friends, have those stupid play dates and crap with her sisters kids, wants to visit her family for the tenth time that week, etc etc always, always let her go. The more the better. Build up the gratis points then cash em in baby. Also when you ahve not had a kite for a while get real grumpy, kick the dog, sigh frequently...that helps to.

Eppo , met your missus and kids in Bali - you have done well my son . I liked the way your family just slip into beach mode - they are used to it and expect it .Pretty soon you will have little gromms - mine is 22- its a buzz

My family beach life has been similar to my time in Bali recently - surfing or kiting - I didnt shop , go on the elephants, etc - my missus was concerned when I thought about going with her once and she suggested it was not a good idea .

She has supported me for 30 years in my passion - " no we cant ,he's kiting or windsurfing" - he has no time time for anything else ,dont you get it?
"No we cant commit to a time "- DOW(depends on wind )
I cant ask for much else

I have followed a similar belief - be there in full when its not windy and be ready to pick up the pieces or send her for a coffee when you get home full of buzz after a good session - before you lose your good will and as the kids begin to wind up the pressure and you feel like a little murder might be a good idea

yep thats my beautiful gal too

Dodgy wind was forecast but I went to Cott for a sesh as I just needed to get out of the house. The wind was really crap so I came home early.

The wife had left a note on the fridge.........

"It's not working!! I can't take it anymore, I've gone to stay at my Mums!"

I opened the fridge, the light came on and the beer was cold.........

WTF was she was on about!

Haha and cop the old "Do you have to go surfing at 7am, don't you want to stay for 'cuddles'?"

Answer : "No I don't, however the swell is dropping like a hot potato, but you'll still be here tomorrow! K, thanks, cya, bye"

Rinse and repeat when it is a good few days [}:)]

Ok, stop all the complaining. Here's some advice from someone who's happily married and gets to kite pretty often.

Get all the big jobs done over winter - paint the lounge room, build the pergola, pave the driveway. In other words build browny points in the off season. That way you get to enjoy the summer winds without stress.

It's also a good idea, if you can, to have winter holidays with the wife doing stuff you both enjoy. Go hiking in the mountains, family BBQ's, bicycle riding in the park - all good winter persuits for couples. Summer holidays should be beachside, no excuse, that way kiting is an afternoon option.

Get the kids into kiting as well. That way it's quality time with dad every windy day.

I can't believe that this advice got a red thumb. No wonder there are so many miserable whiners .those of us who are happy in our marriage and get to kite without being given a hard time just want to share how its done .just go back to being henpicked ,stuff yas

Nah float I'm with you mate. I was just having some fun with my posts. All up I got an awesome relationship with my wife and kids and I can't wait to get the kids up and going. Actually I know Jason from wet oz will be getting his kid slowly into it soon so I'm staying posted with some advice.

There is always give and take, that's what living with someone who looks after your children is about. Without her I'd still be an loose nut wasting money, destroying my liver and just being a down right assehole. Well I'm still an asshole. Lol.

Talk soon float man.

so at what age do you get your kids into the water kiting?

i have 3.

2 girls 8 and 6 and a boy 4.

I'm thinking at least 10 to 11.
ps there is no easy flat water hear. only waves. I guess they must at the vey least be able to swim in the waves without drowning before i unleash them on kites. thats assuming they want to kite i guess.

Check with local instructors. Because of insurance reasons it may by about 12 years old if they take lessons. My youngest son started at 12 years. He is now 21 and still killing it with a kite - way better than me.

I had a great family trip to Sea World last weekend, even took the mother in law. Droped them off and headed off then headed to Shearwater. Met back up with them in time for the dolphin show and a ride on the roller coaster before home.

Good investment those season passes.
