Buy whatever, goats, surfboard, grange, go to town, but please, not a GoPro. Why watch shaky unfocused vids of mediocre kiters, even if one of them is you, when you can watch professionally shot and edited clips of top riders for free thanks to the interwebs?

98% of GoPro use = tragic narcissism.

Spend your life kiting, not stuffing about recording yourself.

Indeed, but I was kinda liking the idea of documenting my progress for myself, not necesarily anyone else, that and possibly being able to get a couple of nice overhead shots of myself kiting.
Hey, kiting is awesome, is it any wonder someone would want some footage/shots of themselves doing what they love?

The second kite is still up the top of the list too.
I just hate the idea of possibly buying a secondhand bunch of problems.

As Faith No More said; 'Indecision clouds my vision...'

BTW, the gifting of the present is a reward from work for services rendered and they want to be able to present the gift at a cocktail party, so they're not actually giving me the cash straight out, which would have made this much easier to decide what to do.

Still we should all have these problems shouldn't we?

The charity thing still works and think how much more impressed everybody will be. You might even get all the hot chicks lining up to give you a kiss ... or something.

If it has to be a "thing" then $500 will buy you the best wetsuit you will ever need in WA.

+1 for the no-GoPro. We would have to hunt you down and kill you if you started posting videos of the front of your board.

That may have sold me if I wasn't happily married and already donating to charity.
and besides, everyone knows chicks are attracted to b*stards [}:)] not nice guys who donate to charity

Given the fact you don't know what to buy, that would probably mean you don't really need anything. Hand it over to someone who does.

Cheers

Now where did that come from? I'm not sure if it's the prejudice or the stereotyping you should be addressing 1st.

Mate, If you don't know what to get you most probably don't need anything ATM......... (or $500 not quite enough to get what you want)
So why not spend it on the Misses (if applicable), I think that your $500 will go much further this way.

IE: Oh I need a new kite ? board, brownie points ETC.

My vote goes to the smaller kite 7m or 9m last season was a bad example of kiting in Perth so you where lucky with your 11m

$500 will buy you sweet fa in kiting gear. A couple of harnesses. A third of a surf board? A half a TT? A quarter of a kite?

UR right - $500 wont go far on new gear.
But a matching 2nd hand small kite to fill out a quiver being 11M & 7Mor8M would be a great option.
Shouldnt have to look far to find match up.
Even smaller, one year old kites are down around his purse limit - if he doesnt need a bar
AND - consider too that he has an 11M. Being in WA - unless Oceanfire is 100kgs ++ - he's probably missing out on all the full-on fun days.

Smaller kite. 7m! The new kites are all out soon - good deals to be had on second hand ones.

yeah, when I started I was up around ton mark, but have since dropped a bit, so the smaller kite option is certainly gonna be the most beneficial for me.
Now all I need to do is find one; I think I know where to look...
