Hi, my gear has been sitting in storage for 3 years now. I finally have a chance to get back into it again. Can some one help me out as to what to look for when inspecting everything to make sure it is all safe?? Before i stored it all I washed everything in fresh water but im still a bit worried about the salt wearing at my lines and what ever else.
Cheers

Should be fine but I would carefully inflate the bladders ensuring they havnt stuck to the selfs, as they will rip straight away.

Hey mate, i was in the same boat this week, havent used my 2007, Torch & Vegas for about 3 years, both were bought new in 2007 and used regulary until around 2009, they were both still in great condition and have had a few really good sessions this week on both kites, all lines and bars and mechanical cleat on the north bar and shift system on the torch operated without fault and showed no signs of detoriation, i went over them quite well before going out and launching them, checked line lengths etc and put a good dynamic load on the lines before risking it with a kite, it goes to show that propper de-servicing really pays off, before putting my gear into "mothballs" i made sure everything received an extensive fresh water clean/bath and dried properly before storing in good dry containers/trunks etc, as already mentioned i also made sure the bladders were sitting correctly and inflated slowly and checked for leaks etc before going full pressure,, just go over the lines well and make sure your quick release operates before going near the water. enjoy

Don't forget to check your harness.

just be aware of the valves lifting off if the glue has melted in any heat, part from that she'll be all good,

3 years though...... don't think i've seen a 3year old kite in perth full stop!

Sorry to say its nothing like riding a bike.
With kiting you never have to pedal
