Amin, my missus has resigned to the fact that I put kitesurf before our relationship. Why cant you?

Kiting is only possible on average 4hrs in the day and a maximum of 3 days in the week averaged out very optimistically over the year. You are saying that you wont give him 12 out of 168 hours a week to do what he loves. I am sure you can settle with 92% lovey dovey time and let him be free with 8%. If you stop him from that you will either loose him, or have him go wild in a mid life crisis. GET OVER IT... FIND YOUR OWN ACTIVITY WHILE HE KITES.... FIND YOURSELF!!!

BTW Valentines day is a hallmark money making scam.

learn how to kite and you will soon love kiting more than you love him,then your relationship will be perfectly balanced,and yes its great to kite with your partner

Let's face it, there's no winning if you are on the other side of the relationship of someone who has lots of toys...

The most beautiful girlfriend I've ever known...

"I'd like to kite" she said.

"This is the dream", I thought..

So I bought the trainer kite.
I paid for the lesson.
I listened to all of her stories of frustration.
I bought her a lovely brand new dakine ladies harness (in contrast to my 2004 pro-limit wonder.. )
I bought her the most ridiculous red life vest that nobody in their right mind would buy, let alone wear, but she had her heart set on it, so yes, i bought it for the woman i loved..
I bought her the kite, bar, lines and pump.
I took her away for a week down the coast, so she could learn with hardly anyone around.
I threw my body down the embankment to chase after the kite she'd dropped in the bushes.
I pulled her up the beach after every single body drag.
I spent hours untangling the lines when she'd dropped it in the water and was unable to relaunch.
I listened to her go on and on for hours about how it was the kite's fault... and accepted it.

Then it all came crashing down.. just as she was finally getting started on the board, it ended.

I now have a lovely 2008 ladies dakine harness in a cupboard, and my old 2004 mens pro-limit harness comes out every weekend.
I now have a beautiful 2008 ladies vest in the cupboard, and my old and crusty 2003 mens vest comes out every weekend.
I now have her great kite in the cupboard, and of course my old 2007 patched up best waroo comes out every weekend.

Yes, I thought i had it all once...

So if you really love your man... my advice? just let him buy himself a new kite for valentines day..

Geez some of you guys have it good. Try having 3 kids under 5. I've only been out 4 times in the 3wks since the last one arrived.

I figure I'm about 12 years out from having 3 kite buddies to go down the beach with!

General, try 3 under 2 1/2 yrs old (go figure ).... it's thankfully 3 under four at the moment. Anyway, I think the post is getting hijacked by overextended parents here!

However... the above can be organised neatly to allow for time...
If there is surf... surf... then come home and spend time
if there is wind... kite... then come home and spend time
if there is wind and surf... kite... then come home and spend time
if there is no wind and surf... cycle... then come home and spend time
if it is dark... guitar... then come home and spend time
if it windy and dark... kite... then come home and spend time
if it is dark and there is surf... go to be early, be romantic, and then get up early the next day and surf.

Ouch! I've learned that the same thing applies for guys.... There are soooooo many who've said they would love to get into it; had a lesson with an instructor and nicked off soon after lol. They still couldn't see why I choose kiting over them! If only they kited!
