Your far better off getting a larger second hand one than an extremely cheap new kite... just look at the popular brands and get something less than a couple years old... should cost far less.

I'm extremely rich and can sympathise with your plight. I'll send you my 08 cabrinha range. I already have the 09's.
I'll get my butler jeeves to bring them over.

We could be getting confused over the term "new kite"

Maybe he means "another kite"

My advice to you matey is check around ,you should be able to pick up an old style kite for 150 bucks.(or less,or free) Surely you can scam that much cash !!

My advice would be not to get a 2005 kite if you can scrape up an extra few $$$ get a 2008 or 2007 kite. Getting a 2005 kite would be like buying a 2005 computer. Sure its cheep, but its old teck and not as good as the 2008s or 2007s.

I seem to remember this topic cropping up on another kite forum.
If i recall the suggestion was that stores offer a Rentsmart or whatever else those companies are called to allow financing of your purchase. I can't remember what the reason for not doing it was... but Steve (KitePower) or Jason (BrisKites) might be able to chime in as i know atleast one of them was involved in the last discussion.

I think the problem with most of the store credit systems is they are usually high interest and from those lending institutions that constantly appear on Today Tonight.

Often you will be able to get a credit card at a cheaper rate these days so I think that is the way to go.

I gues when it comes down to it you need to buy what you can afford. Stick with used gear borrowed gear and whatever gets you on the water. If thats a 3 year old kite then so be it. It will probably make you a better kiter in the long run anyway.

Enjoy your kiteing no matter what gear you own. This sport is about 90% rider and 10% gear anyway.

Have fun and share the stoke

hey guys just tryin to get some help on getting a new kite but there is a catch i dont have much money.

my current kite will be too small for me over summer for the arvo seabreezes

Sorry mate, not quite sure what the original intent of this post is?

If you are chaseing free kites that probably isn't going to happen unless you have some pretty exceptional circumstances you are not telling us about.

If you would like to know where to look for well priced affordable kites, then the buy and sell option is a very good place to start, if you are already rideing a c-kite than you have plenty of options, otherwise I'm sure there are some well priced hybrids, the slingshot link, airush vapor, and the ozone steve from Kitepower offered are some examples to get you started.

If the problem is money, then take a tablespoon of salt and HTFU. Get a basic job at night while your still at school and liveing at home, once you get a car etc. your money starts to dissapear real quick

If you tell us your budget I'm sure someone can offer you some different options.

Good luck
Matt

Allright Cabstar, here's a bit of positive and constructive feedback:

When buying 2nd hand gear, always be reluctant to jump in head first and buy the first kite you find. There is an absolute shyte load of gear out there in 2nd hand world.

Keep in mind that any kite older than 07 is bloody hard to sell, and depending on the brand an 07' complete kite is usually worth $500 tops.

Again, depending on the brand, an 08' kite isnt worth more than $900.

An 06 kite would be lucky to be worth $300 (and thats if they can actually sell it to start with). So there ya go mate. Shop around and be a tightarse, and you will get yourself a good deal for a weeks dole payment

There are '06 11m Fuels in Buy and Sell for $250 advertised as good condition with no repairs or damage. So an 04 Fuel that needs repairs to the trailing edge is probably worth a bit less.
