If you're that good they'll see you ride and ask you...

Until that moment get ''yourname.com'' and post vids on it and just act like a pro. Post heaps of vids on youtube and hope that the spono's come knockin at yo door...
Then approach as many of your old mans mates who have big companies, tell you're rad and that you rip and they should spono you with a t'shirt(their company logo on it)and cash to get you to your next big kite comp...
When at said comp bust big, land everything to blind... and DUDEs with cash in hand will come running to put money in your bank ready to fly you to your next big kite comp...

and there you have our next Ruben Lenten...

oh what you can't land to blind...

good luck man! start with the shop you got your gear from, they may have a team rider scheme, for movers n shakers new to the sport.

I think the best way is to show people how much ur going to give back to the sport as well as how hard u ride.....

Including helping out other kiters, giving advice, giving good feedback about products, knowing how the gear u ride works. Also riding at a level that exceeds most other kiters...

Prob best u worked out a time to go riding with the boys from ur local shop and show them what u got, otherwise achieving good results in comps should do the trick...

Hey Aaron,

Abesy nailed it in one. When we look for a rider to sponsor, I look for the following:

Must have heaps of fun when kiting.
Must be personable, approachable, and easy going.
Must be a decent rider with original style.
Must ride at every opportunity.
Must absolutely love kiting!
Must absolutely love the gear they ride. (most important)
Must be willing to help others on the water and the beach.
Must make kiting look like fun.
Must promote the gear and the brand and help out with demos and such

I look for someone who makes others want to get into the sport or onto our gear by how much fun they're having and by standing out from the crowd in regards to riding. This does not necessarily mean riding like Hadlow. It means to represent the company or brand that they are riding for in a positive light.

There are hundreds of Hadlow wannabe's that all ride really well, but few really original riders that could be different and not follow the crowd.

There are two different types of sponsorships too. The one which is a long term deal with your local shop or seller in which they cannot afford to pay you but will set you up with great gear and look after you for years to come, or the money and fame type which looks for the best rider, uses you to get some exposure and then dumps you once your off your game or the next whiz kid comes along.

Hope this helps,

Hey David,

Tina and Summer are now home. Both are doing exceptionally well and are very happy. Thanks for asking. I love having little daughters when they are young and will try to enjoy it as much as possible to offset the heartache and stress of when they are into their early teens

Good winds,
