Hey Jen when deciding if conditions are safe for a beginner is is very important to remember that if the wind is blowing strait onshore or even onshore at an angle this increases the danger and difficulty factor immensely, especially for beginners. If you cant use the board yet you wont be able to get away from the shoreline starting point (upwind in onshore wind). If you have a problem the chances of hitting the beach and any obstacles on the land increase dramatically. Although you may be chomping at the bit to get out there today (Sunday) is not looking like good conditions... pretty much onshore. It still may be worth a look down the beach but Monday, Tuesday and Thursday look to have better potential.

Hi Snal,

If Im not wrong, woodies beach 3 will be cross-shore today with a NW direction, am I wrong? You are definitely right on the on-shore one, especially if Im still not good at tacking. If you have any suggestions they are well welcomed :) Apart from Woodies, any other beach recommended for newbies? Thanks!

I've only ever kited at woodies on beach 1&2. The map and WAKSA info points to beach 3 being good for NW so you should be ok. Just bear in mind to make your own assessment when your standing on the beach. Seabreeze wind reports should be regarded as a guide as conditions when you get to your actual location can be quite different from what the reports indicate. Also NW or westerlies are front driven, highly changeable and unpredictable as previous posters stated. For the most part a sesh in a NW will much less satisfying than a sea breeze driven SW sesh no mater where you go. Have fun but stay safe!... blink your eyes end there will be no end of great kiting days.

But what about facilitating a group ride for the ladies?

I tried that for a while, I just get worn out.
