Ok. I'll add my weight on what is a good kite for this guy.

Get a Flysurfer Speed 4, 12mt kite.

Simple.

PLenty of lift, steady as boat, can turn slower, but for beginner it's sweet as, and very easy to pack down. No pumping, no valves (ugh!) and no following sheep!

Yeah - yeah - yeah give me em red ones boys!

Bit of hijack of this thread, but my instructor recommended this kite for me and would be great to get a second opinion on the bandit. Is it a good all rounder, with good wind range that would suit a beginner? Also good for progressing on?
Thanks!

In my opinion the bandit is one of the best allround kites hands down.

I learnt with it and it makes things soooo easy.
I've tried other allrounders like the Best roca and TS; Cabrinha switchblade and FX, etc... none of them felt the same as the bandit. Plenty of power, constant pull (a.k.a. sheet ang go), high jumps, fast turns...
The only downside might be that the construction is weaker than the others I mentioned, but once in the air it is the winner.

I say this even that I am sponsored and riding freestyle with the Best GP, but I got it ONLY AFTER two whole years riding hybrid kites. For everything up to your first unhook tricks like raleys, backrolls and sbends a hybrid will not only be ok, but I think it is better than C's. I like doing sbends more in a bandit than a C. In my opinion C's only for handlepasses. Everything else, hybrids.

PS: Modern C kites are note more dangerous. Only thing is that they are less powerfull.

By the way, the envy should be such as suitable for you as the bandit.
A kite like the envy is the best choice for you right now. Keep it untill you can.

I think this review is pretty good:

kitesurfingmag.com/2016-freeride-kite-reviews-head-head/

Its not all kites (Don't think there are any Best kites ) - but its a fairly simple description about how similar kites differ in performance for freeride.

Keep the 10.5 and get a strong wind or a light wind kite for winter.
Through winter in NSW we are either on 17m or 9m but maybe 8m would suit more with your 10.5

From what I've seen, I think Glendog and Kemp90 are on the money. I think it was them that did that wicked little clip about a year ago (Grouplove: Don't say oh well was the audio). Definitely have some skills and knowledge to share.

Best thing about the forums is the amount of knowledge available. Hardest part is filtering !!

Best of luck with your journey. And if the boys up there want to try a Flysurfer for wake style just let me know. FS Team rider Dylan Van de Meij seems to do pretty good !
