Used to live there. great spot. 12 surf breaks within a 10 minute drive. Didnt kite when i was there as only taken that up since i moved to WA. the main spot for kites was coaldale beach which is the next bay from you. Beach launch with a couple of reef breaks and some flatish water inside

love the place but you will still be a "blow in" even after 5 years....

There's a bunch of spots around, but if you don't talk to the local kiters anywhere you'll always remain a blow in no matter where you go.

Nah mate I hang around down there and only started about this time last year. If you just chat to the local crew then they'll remember next time.

This might be true in the surfers world but certainly isn't with the kiting community . In the last 14 years of kiting ive met so many great people in the Illawarra through this sport who are all very friendly and always willing to help out other kiters .
A thread from the past how Illawarra kiters feel about blow ins

Some encouraging advice... Coaldale looks a 'go' and will catch up with the locals... Lived in Cornwall for many years and learnt the importance of making connections, advice and taking things slowly... Getting less apprehensive. Thanks guys
