Ha, ha, very funny Let's see if this thread can take a real noob question: would it be a good idea to practice flying the (real, not trainer) kite on land in underpowered conditions?

I would say no. Underpower = kite hitting deck often = broken kite
Overpower = kite dragging kiter over land = broken kite and broken kiter

Depends what stage of noobiness you are at........I find flying on the beach in underpowered conditions a good opportunity to get an appreciation of kite loops/down loops with the bar pulled in different amounts. It also helps to understand some of the lingo you hear on the forums such as pivoting on the wingtip etc. At least in underpowered conditions I can watch the kite and not worry about my impending death by first trying a kite loop in +25kts.

Provided you don't mind crashing your kite a few times, any practice is good practice for noobs.

underpowered, kite stalls, falls into power zone, gust of wind catches it, you're ripped downwind. you can try it, just be sure to video it so you can post it on youtube under epic kite fails

You're not really talking noobplay there mate.

Can't see any advantage of doing it on the beach as opposed to doing it in some waist deep water also.

^ +1 for the knee to waist deep water with plenty of space down wind. Would be much safer than on the beach.

Be careful when flipping your board over infront of you had the edge get under my quick release and let the kite go. Good self rescue practice I guess

Kiting in Tunisia where grass is non existant. How do i avoid covering the kite in sand when packing away? It's becoming frustrating?
