I love the T3 and have a 12 and a 10. Cutting to the chase, is the helix more like a C kite or a bow. I know heaps of guys that are apprehensive because they think that because the kite has a briddle it will fly like a bow.

Hi Camo,
back in my home country we say "colours and tastes can hardly be discussed", so I won't try to convince you how wicked of a jumping kite the Rebel is!
From what you're saying, you couldn't work out the jumps simply cause the Rebel is nearly TOO easy to jump with: barely no need to edge at all! I have bad knees and have always loved the Rebel for that matter that it saved them from handling hard edging. Popping as throwing your kite and sheeting in is all that needs to be done with the Rebel!...
I understand from what you're saying that you like loading your jumps, the way you've done it with your Torch. (Have flown and loved the kite as well!). In that case, I reckon you should try the Helix: it jumps exactly like a C-kite, and, as I've said in my review, it doesn't feel like an SLE at all and you will find the same responsiveness and direct feel you more likely loved with your Torch.
JB was a huge Torch 3 fan and he's now on the Helix: this simple fact sort of speaks on its own...
Come by WindsurfNSnow to borrow the Helix we have on demo: give it a go and make up your own mind... You might be surprised!!!
(But there again... Hurry: Sunday's my day off and if the toy is still on the Demo shelf by tomorrow eve, it will spend the rest of the week-end in my car!!!)

Em, I ride a 12m 07 Rebel and ride alone alot due to circumstances and really like the self landing of the Rebel in any wind. How would you self land the Helix? Also, does anybody know of any videos of the Helix on the net, other than the Naish one?

Come on Spring!!

True: The Rebel is very sweet to self launch and land!
Regarding the technique for the Helix... That's a good question!
When trying it, I self launched the Helix like a C-kite (sand on the wing tip) and it worked beautifully, but I did wonder as well how to self land it (I haven't flown many SLE's so wouldn't have a clue!). I was on my own on the site and the location didn't allow me to mess around too much (2m wide beach, electric lines and other fun stuffs) so I didn't try stupid things and landed the kite with the safety... (which worked perfectly...)
I actually meant to ask JB about the self-landing technique and forgot! -Thanks for reminding me! -

Self landing the Helix is the same as self landing most kites. Because the kites not require sand on it to stay stationary on the beach (though I still recommend it!), once the kite has landed and is facing the right way, it stay there, so it's actually pretty easy. I fly it to the edge of the window, about 1 kites width up from the beach, then steer it down to the sand, as the wing tip hits and the upper string go slack, I pull on them to spin the kite. Seems to work really well! I imagine you could use the same methods as "C's, Hybrid & BOWS" the Sigma don't seem to have any funky traits that I have been able to find yet.

Regards,

JB
