Im first in the queue to try mate :) So cant wait, nor to queue up for your Waroo 14 We running a open beach auction for kites then? Would be first and fun, like a gearswap where everyone bring along what they wanna sell. Should do this on regular basis. I can get a sponsor to run a BBQ and the redbull girls to come along giving out free drinks!

The dig about the whole Boxeroo thing was a reference to how all companies rip from one another. Those in the know are aware that most of the new bridle styles are a copy of Matt Pendles Globerider and Best were the first.

Enjoy your thread.

i don't think all companies have been ripping of other companies .... re F-one are innovators and had single curved leading edge kite out years before other companies (04), theyve had plastic sheithed front line protectors on there since 2000 to stop your hands getting burn't, but now you see other companies including the same thing and it being marketed as the best thing since sliced bread... which it still is.

Meanwhile back on the topic...

Hey ARSA what length bar and what length lines are you using with the Waroo Pro?

My thought is that all these very fast, very powerful flat kites could benefit from using longer lines in light wind to eliminate the need for a bigger kite in the quiver.

I have an extension line set for my Sonic 11 but have not had the conditions where I needed to use them yet.

I encourage anyone who gets a chance this week to ride the Waroo pro to give some feedback. The demo kite will be down Sth East Qld mid this week.

I am using a 45cm bar and 25mtr lines on the Pro at the moment.

Joe.

Marc

This is the RRP for Australia. Must be cheaper offshore due to GST, freight, duty etc paid on entrance into Australia.

hello,

duty in france is 17 % !!!!! switzerland is 8 % and australia 10 %

freight to europe .... these kites are made in china so closer to australia, no ?

i think this must be due to the fact that australia is a very rich country at the moment and maybe people are not looking for good deals like in europe or maybe the shops are too greedy ?

I'm still a little confused about where the waroo pro's high price tag comes from. the only things different i can see is the batons and the cuban fibre leading edge. The rest of the fatures they advertise are on a number of other cheaper kites (maybe not on the waroo). The stuff the advertise as "quality features" are fair enough but mentioning colour coded bridles as a feature when most flat kites I have seen have them seems like an overkill and it still looks like no one pump which is a major bummer as those who have used one pump before will tell you.

I'm not saying the other kites aren't overpriced, the crossbow for example is rediculous as well, and the Contra isn't much better. Its not like the quality on this kites is better than other kites either, that it justifies the high price tag, or that Cabrinha can complain that they didn't cover their development costs on the previous crossbow and switchblade because they must be sitting pretty.

I think you can be confident that the higher price of the WP is not solely driven by higher input material costs.
My guess is that Best are seeking to sell a higher margin kite than their standard range. They've included a few differentiating features to separate it from their base kites and infer that these are worth the extra dollars. Whether or not they are depends on the individual.

The key difference between the Waroo and the Waroo Pro in 07 is fabrics the're constructed from. Waroo Pro is constructed from Cuben fiber with some blends of Ripstop/Dacron in few areas. Waroo is constructed out of Ripstop/Dacron.

The "special" features you will find on both models.

Value for money you wont go past the Waroo however there will be some that will want more and will purchase a Waroo Pro.

Thanks, that clarifies it a bit. I thought most of them were unique to the Waroo Pro
