In onshore wind and knee to chest high crumbling waves, its not a lot of fun for beginners to body drag around. They tend to take longer to relaunch the kite and will often have lost track of where the board is. They tend to swallow a lot of water as the whitewater goes over their heads.

body dragging in double to tripple head high dumpers on deserted beach in 50km form anywhere with cliff and barnacle encrusted rocks inshore and 40 knots of wind ain't that much fun either.....

Thats said i don't use the floaty think. a more manly device would be a unit that deployed and pumps its self up if you get x meters away from it.

Its waiting in the wings until enough people want it.

No wind, so I went for a paddle.

It's so much harder to paddle my surfboard with the Gojoe.

I've been thinking about attaching a strobe to my board to make it easier to see and found this one that could be turned on when the board comes off - www.landfallnavigation.com/safety/distress-signaling/rescue-lights.html

should Post this in the beginners section where it will be of use. I doubt anyone in this section needs it or uses a leash.

What's it with the Body dragging fanatics here? There must be a new way of doing it these days because the one i've been using for 4 years is one of the most boring activities known to man. It's up there with talking to the fat friend or driving 2hrs for the wind to drop. Get a GoJoe, get your board back in 10 seconds not 10 minutes.
Think straight side shore wind, 2' waves at 6sec periods, your TT is upside down, your getting hit by waves, say hello to a very long wait on the beach for your board to turn up. Throw in a gutter emptying out into the pacific faster than the waves can bring it in and you're clocking up beer favors as your m8s run out to grab your disappearing stick, unless they're not there, then it's "mission impossible board recovery time"
Or how about kite shearwater or any river mouth running against the wind? 2 chances body dragging back to that without one of these baby's m8. Your''s and buckleys. These things rock, spend your time smashing s**t not body dragging like granpa
