Try getting into golf for under $2k a year, or buy a motor bike. A decent pushy is going to cost you at leat $1k and then you have club fees etc..

Anyway, if you have your head screwed on you can buy second hand from the pratts who have too much cash and feel the need to display the latest model kite to take the edge off their lack of ability.

Just saw that Harvey Norman is about launch an online business and so Meyer department stores to remain competitive, they plan on delivery direct so compete with online store like catch of the day. Seems like BWS is in good company with their strategy.

Though he would need some Ninja Skills, that I don't think he has!

I and many other price conscious existing kiters (who aren't a retailer) would welcome a price war on kites. The cost of living in Australia is expensive and no matter what you're purchasing...reality is alot of us like to shop around for the best deal... Or... at least a fair deal, that hasn't got an over inflated margin attached to it. Unless there's no other choice. If only we knew the true cost of goods.
If 'Person A' buys a Video Camera from Harvey Norman for $1200 ... and 'Person B' buys the exact same one on line for $750. Who's the more intelligent person? derrr.
I'm sure Jerry Harvey's a cool dude... but I don't want to support his lifestyle with an extra 20 - 60% if I don't have too.

Sorry I don't care... I'm over paying too much for things and where possible I'll buy something I believe is more reasonably priced or has more value for money. In Perth it'll cost you about an average of 32 bucks for a steak. That works out to be $106 per kg for your 300g piece of beef with ur 40cents of chips n salad.... good venue, sht venue, entertainment or not... then there's your beer for 10 bucks.
Who's sick of paying 10 bucks for a beer in Perth? Are we paying too much and getting ripped off? Are we paying for someone elses fortune?

Killing the retailers would definitely be a negative turn in the kiteboarding industry. How would anyone demo new gear? I'm definitely a 'try before I buy kitesurfer', and I never trust sales hype when it comes to kites.

Yea short term everyone could save a few bucks cutting out retailers, but how many Kitesurfing shops are schools as well. We would be killing the safest way a newbie can get into this sport. This means the sport will stop growing, and kite brands cut back on the development of new kites

As well as after sales service, and warranties?????? Who wants to be emailing some company in another country, who doesn't care, with your complaint. At least with retailers you can go and talk to them in person.

BWS may have a small short-term impact in Australia with cheap online sales, but I reckon he's gonna need retailers, to have a long-term impact as well as a chunk of the international market.

So are you guys saying that BWS should put the price up so that the retailer can make a hit???

Have a think about the bigger picture.

Kites are cheap, they have not gone up in price since they came out, there are too many models and brands and the market is not growing that much people are wisin up, kitin is not for the average joe, they prefer to shop.
