I've also noticed my leading edge seam stitching wear through as well, but still holds together, doesn't look good, why don't Ozone use something stronger wearing like a Kevlar thread? just saying

If the stitching has worn through, then something has caused it to wear. Kevlar breaks down in sunlight and is not suitable for sewing kites. The thread used by Ozone kites is the strongest they can find. There is no simple solution like just making the thread larger, thread itself adds a lot of weight to a kite, but it also has to be woven into the fabric by a sewing machine that punches holes in the material, bigger holes mean weaker seams.
The zigzag stitching running around the circumference of the LE near each segment join are not structural, so if you break a couple, don't panic, your kite will not burst and there is no need to get it repaired.
Avoid dragging your kite across any abrasive surface, especially be careful to have good technique when self launching, the kite should not slide, just pivot and launch.

Like you said the cost of living has and still is going up for mums, dads, families ect. I certainly don't believe there's been a wage increase over the last 5 years. Out of curiosity from a kite companies perspective what is the average income of your target demograph Of kite users and does it change for different kite models?. Genuine question apologies if it comes across passive aggressive, but I have always wondered or do you not look into the market this deeply?

No aggression taken, passive or otherwise, all good. It is interesting that you say you cannot remember wages ever increasing? I'm not able to comment on what you do for a living, but on average wages have increased continually over the last 17 years, see the attached graph and report. The average increase has been 3.38% per year.
The price increase in kites has averaged less than that in the same time period, so they are actually becoming slightly more affordable.
My memory is pretty good and prices for an 11m'ish kite have risen approx 45% over the last 16 years, which is equivalent to 2.81% per year.

Fun per hrs of use though is priceless in my opinion!! (and kites perform way better now and are far safer)

Thanks for taking the time to reply not really what this thread was started for tho, so a discussion for another time/thread perhaps. Tell us more about the kite it looks like a great kite from the pictures

It's a lot of money for a few metres of fabric but most of the blokes i see riding newish Ozone gear seem to be older so money is probably less of a concern? Kids are older, financially settled, missus is supportive of a midlife crisis that doesnt involve a 20 something blonde with DD's, big dent in the mortgage etc so a new V9 quiver isn't really so unaffordable.

No different to foil boards i guess?

You'd imagine Ozone would have done some market research and know not to price themselves out of the market? Twice the quality of Switch gear which is half the price, probably not?

Not sure why comparisons are being made with Switch... Switch are in their own market against other cheaper brands.

Edge V9 11m is same price as Rebel 11m or Switchblade 11m complete with clicker or overdrive recoil... However if Ozone's bar were to become $800-$1000 then it certainly would be more expensive than its competition.
However those kites aren't really targeted towards the same market, Flysurfer boost 2 is $2800.00 complete also.

Take it easy Ian. This account is used by people working at Kitepower. Just like Kitepower Australia. Our only two logins.

Thread is about the Edge V9 btw, unfortunately still unable to test it yet

Comon mate.... take a look at everything in the real world. it looks like ozone doesn't have an issue with their pricing strategy. go out and buy a kia rio, hyundai i30, mazda 2, vw golf or audi a3 - all similiar sizes and very different in price. whether it be quality, milage, warranty or brand name etc, price is key to value.

^ That old bird better be careful with that catalyst. I've seen two new cat's at the local school break this summer (torn canopies).

To get back on topic, I was looking forward to getting a V9 Edge but after seeing what happened to the aforementioned cat's I don't think I will be now.

Just had the kite doctor pick up some full canopy tears on cabrinahs and switch, for locals no brand is safe from abuse, especially in a school,
pictures or it didn't happen

Plenty of wind Peace haha ;) I've had the 9m V9 for 2 weeks now and got a few sessions in over easter, all on a hydrofoil so far. Can't say I've tested the jumping ability, or really done a proper test at all, but the lower end is certainly just as good as the old edges. One session I was out in 7-8 knots for around 15-20 minutes before messing up a gybe and swimming in and swapping to a 15m R1. Another session in 10-12 knots was comfortable on the 9m (I'm 65kg), out for around 2 hours doing tacks and gybes no worries.

Turning speed certainly better than the old edges, low end grunt fairly similar but it's easier to get going because the pull around the loop is a more consistent, especially if not too advanced in the light conditions. Build quality is a little beefier than the old edges, but having said that I had no issues with the old edges. I'm not too fussed on the build quality really, it's good as I'd expect and even with the slightly stronger look it still hangs in the air fine in wind far lighter than I'll be usually using it in.

Best to demo if you can, personally I prefer riding a bit more powered and usually wouldn't use a 9m until 18-20 knots on the foil or twintip but nice to know a kite is fine to ride through lulls. Know what you're after though, from a few LW sessions on the foil I know it's a progression on the V8, it's not a surf kite and not for freestyle, even if it may be a little closer to this than before. Although of course you can still use it for surf and freestyle, kites like the enduro are better all rounders. It's still a high performance kite good for wind range, boosting, old school tricks, speed, and decent angles upwind. Looking forward to some more wind and going jumping.

Those kites have just arrived back here for Steve to check out, completely abused and worn through the dacron strip and stitching along the LE in several places... Not exactly unexpected from a School kite.

Anyway back on topic. Ozone Edge V9 i think?

Have a collection of different Ozone kites including Edges (new and used) and never had a problem with any of them. It's generally down to how you treat them or mistreat them as the case may be.

On the subject of wages growth, just Google the ABS and look at average weekly earnings. National ordinary time earnings have increased every 6 months for many years...

Hello riders! Got my new v9 9m last week. Have tried it two sessions about 1 hour each time. And experience vibrations in the rig. Mainly the center lines and when the kite is about 45-50 degree angle, riding strait forward. Anyone else who has experience the vibrations??
Also saw that Ozone already released this link, could it be that they have problems with the bridlesen on new v9 ??
(Did not get the new lines sk99.)

Wind at the time 20-25 knots
Bar 50cm lines 25m
Bin riding the Edge since 2011.

There are no problems with the Edge V9 AFAIK, if you think you have an issue please take your kite back to your dealer. Ozone releases bridle check info for every kite they make, this is not an indication there is a problem with your kite.

Ok thanx for fast answer, just want to know if someone else had the same experience.
I have controlled the line and only smal differens like 0,5cm. ;)
And I will contact my dealer and Ozone and here what they have to say about it!

Can someone comment on hangtime? How does it compare, for example, to Core XR4, Best Roca or other kites?
Also do you get this soft landing feeling with it?
What about comfort? Does it pull you really hard the entire time or you are more relaxed when riding?
Thank you.

Iv been riding a 10m in elliot heads for the demo weekend past 3 days. wow. lands super soft dude. Im no boost king either but wow i was getting up there. also a light wind machine. flat water riding in 7- 10kts. with 3m ext. obviously not boosting in that but the kite generates alot of energy. It won the weekend for everyone. It was the only kite out numerous times.

I haven't flown the Xr4 yet, or the Roca. I've flown Core's though and XR3's and earlier stuff, great kites. The Roca has an "edge' like shape, but thats all I can say about it, other than its a 3 strut design and would not have the same lift and upwind performance as a 5 strut roca version or the 5 strut Edge V9.
I can comment on that soft landing feeling on the Edge V9 though, the V9 is very lifty and provided you are reasonably experienced you will have a great time with this kite if boosting big and getting major hangtime is your thing.
Comfort? Not exactly sure what you mean, but I think you mean is it a cruisy allrounder, or is it like cruising in a ferrari?
I'd say its like cruising in a Ferrari, its got a nice ride, great, effortless upwind, but the potential to just lay it down and boost off the planet is just at your fingertips.
Yesterday the wind hovered for hours around 10-13/14 knots tops, and more in the 10/12 range, but with the tide I was still able to ride with 28M lines easily. I was using an Axis Ultra 1.47x47 which helped a lot. Super flat water 2-3 knots tide assist, but the channel is narrow (50m) on one side and 400-500m wide on the other.
So I was mowing around easily out performing everything else on the water though, which included Blade fat lady, airush varialx 12m, Ozone Enduro 14M, 12m, North Juice 15m, Naish 12m pivot. The Juice rider was on North spike, (nice looking board), but even he could not match my upwind angle, and when I turned and came back downwind on a reach the speed I seemed like at least 50% more, I'd say I was maintaining a slightly higher speed and 15-20 degrees better upwind. But I've gotten off the subject a bit, I'll turn down the frother.....

Then the wind picked up a few knots (and a couple more about 30 mins later), this is when the Edge, starts to behave like its name suggests, those first smaller gusts come straight through the bar as increased pull and you are suddenly going a few knots faster, its an exciting feeling, but one that some people will definitely not like, and others just crave! There was a small bay that had wind blowing directly offshore and butter flat, so I headed into that and started boosting, easily getting several M high jumps with soft downloop landings, covering even greater distances that I ever remember going on a V8 or V7. So to answer your question does it pull hard all the time? YES, when the size you are riding is in the optimum wind strength, it definitely is on "edge"!!
