Very interesting Thorn!!

I got rid of my 17m Cabrihna Contra because if was just too slow to use as a surf kite and although it had loads of power it just didn't go upwind well enough to get you back on the peak.

My biggest kite is now the 2014 Naish Park 12m which is great from 16 knots but just doesn't quite cut it on the all too common east coast 12-15 knot seabreezes.

Do you find the 14m Pivot drifts and turns quick enough to use as a surf kite in cross shore or cross onshore conditions?

How is its upwind ability?

What board do you normally ride?

I'm 95kg and mainly ride strapless surfboard with occasional dabbles on a twin tip when its completely flat.

The 14m drifts well and turns fairly fast for a 14m but all big kites are a compromise. However if you have winds from 12-15kts that is its sweet spot. I use a 150 Ocean Rodeo Mako and am 80kgs. It is still slow compared to the 11m but it gets you out there. I don't know why but it flies so much nicer on my Ozone bar than it did with the Fusion bar (maybe the Fusion bar needs the lines checking again). Try and test one and see what you think.

Got to demo the new Ozone Enduro 14m. For the doubters preaching bigger kites aren't fun - try this one!

Hadn't used a 14m for a while and was really impressed with just how well it flew. I've owned older 14m kites and they felt heavy and really slow - this didn't!

The wind was fairly light, I'd say from about 10 knots lulls thought averaging around 13 knots.

I'd been out on my 2015 Ozone Reo 12m on the North Nugget and was going OK - though working the kite to keep going in the lulls, the surf was flat and a fairly weak and gusty seabreeze.

I love the Reo and it's all I need for a light wind kite as I normally try and kite waves. The comparison on the day was I didn't need to work the Enduro - it just pulled with enough power to get going and once the apparent wind kicked in, it just felt faster and faster.

The turning speed didn't match the Reo (what does), but depending on what kind of riding you do , it's definitely worth considering for lighter winds or heavier riders.

There's another thread going (Ozone Enduro V1 Review) with a video link that shows the performance capability of the smaller sizes - but for cruising along in lighter winds, with a kite that just feels right - I'd be happy with this kite!

I have a 14m Ozone Enduro, and a Zephyr. I don't know why I have both kites... maybe I'm greedy. The 14 actual produces almost as much low end as the zephyr but only because you can fly it faster and flap it around a lot easier when you need to. The Enduro feels a lot like my 12m catalyst but a bit slower to turn. I like it. I need to decide which one to keep .. zephyr or Enduro and I cant really justify having both.

I'm in the same boat as you, the Enduro 14 is def not a 12, but it is really close and actually quite a good kite on a surfboard in low winds in waves. I've tried it with a large TT, and Axis 1.48 x 48 Patrol, myself and another local who is 105kgs and I'm approx 80. We were back to backing the Zephyr V4, with the Enduro. I was able to stay upwind and have fun on the Zephyr and not quite enough on the Enduro, but I reckon if I put 5M extensions on the Enduro stock 25M lines I would have had similar to the Zephyr, prob was I had removed my extensions and they were at home, will test this theory again soon, since its light wind season now.
I like both kites, the Zephyr V4 is an improvement in last years especially downwind, relaunching, and stability, same great bottom end and wind range though. Enduro is a cinch to relaunch, have only flown the 14 on the wave and freeride settings, prefer the wave setting.

recently got on the v3 wainmann 12, nicest kite ive flown in the over 10mtr size, one of my most satisfying kites for a long time, heaps of bridal and pigtail settings which worked a treat, very nice uncluttered bar, real powerfull ride but with nice feedback, very very impressed,

I'll try the next go I get,
I'm on the hunt for a new set next year,
Of the above 10m2 kites I've flown ,this would be the nicest, the 11 Vegas was great too, I'd like a run on a rebel 12 though
Core gts has been the standout in the under 10m2 kites,
Is the such thing today as a bad kite
I've always skipped the kites above 10 and between 17 and gone for the zephyr in 13 knts to 20, but I had a ball on the wainmann 12 in 14/15 knts , did everything super smooth
Not a biggy for me but the old small inflate system was still evident, only thing I could pick

try a 14m airush union, or even the rpm both have a bit more play than some other SLE's

Best big kite I've ever ridden is the North Vegas 2016 14.5m, which is what I am riding now.

I'd recommend maybe trying a few different brands (if you can) to see how they compare.

Otherwise stick to the model you are already riding i.e. Slingshot RPM. That way you can get use to how the kites perform, making your riding & timing come together so you can continue to improve. Having said that some kite size ride really different even within the same model.

Flite 14.5
It will handle 20 kts and you can ride waves in 11 kts.
It's faster than most big kites but clearly not as fast as a decent 12.
It will still loop for down the line or twintipping but the timing is a little different,
Kinda slomo but lofty.
My m8 has a 18m helium and it keeps upwind with that but is way more mobile.
11 kts + LW surfboard = heaps of clean waves.
You gave to be careful out in anything 3ft over head as it's drift is definitely not that of a good surf kite. Also it's construction is very light
So it's goodnight Irene if you put it down in front of one of these waves. I have done this in double over head and each time was a trip to the beach to relaunch.
But for wave faces 9 ft and under this kite rocks.

Go a 12m BRM Cloud.... has the same grunt as a 14m, packs up into a small package, turns like a ten, drifts brilliantly well.

lands in water and drags its canopy over coral rocks / anything at all all the time while the ocean stretches the **** out of it and if a wave ever lands on it its history

couldnt reccomend it more

Have dropped it in the waves quite a few times now (user error) and have not had any issues with tearing or stretching, but I have improved my swimming technique.

Self launch/Self land all the time, no damage yet. It's a well designed kite.

IMO, Perfect for a travel kite: light, small, goes well in most wind conditions.
