We were there a couple of weeks ago, and it was very low. As I mentioned in another post, there are some submerged or not so submerged items to dodge now.
There was a windsurfer there who ripped a fin off his board just as we were setting up - out in the middle of the water just off the 'new' sand spit.
The water was also very muddy... Made for good swamp monster impressions.

On the upside, there was some awesome flat water!!

when we all grow extra limbs from the gross yellow water, we will be able to do extra grabs aswell. Myself along with a few others wont kite there until the water level gets up and the water cleans up a bit. But i suppose it will be worth it for a bit of flat water.

Some awesome responses to registrations thus far, people are coming from all over the state. Accommodation is starting to get tight; better dust off the swag in case...

There are some skeg breaking sandbars down there, especially inside the old airstrip (long spit). We'll be setting the comp zone in an area with appropriate water depth.

Email me at [email protected] if you intend on coming down; the more the better. We'd like to get numbers for catering, tshirts etc before next Thursday; we can fix up rego forms and fees on the day as long as we know to expect you.

Regarding the water itself, we have spoken with the Health Department, Department of Environment & Heritage and the EPA and all of them have confirmed that the water is fine for kitesurfing/swimming/recreational use etc. Personally having spent many years down there, yes it‘s low but the water has always been murky….

You're right. It is a dump of a spot. The water is muddy and full of bird crap, there is all sorts of stuff hiddin under the water as well. Not my favourite spot but has been alright on 1 occasion. Don't know if the water is bad enough to land you in hospital though!

Keen as - the water is fine, one of my favorite spots. See you guys there for some sick riding and bevvies after.... possibly the only thing that may cause sickness.

What time are you guys planning on heading down today (Sunday)? Im pretty keen for some wind and flat water too!

I witnessed some secret training sessions over the weekend- big moves and silky smooth stylez.... if what I saw is any indication then watch out at the states...crew will be busting out with some crazy power and size !!!!

All good Casey. The SAKSA Committee has been flat out pulling it together for the weekend. The wind forecast is looking good with southerly breezes. Given it's warm, there'll be a seabreeze so let's pray its a good one...!

I've had a couple of queries for best directions to Milang: basically you go from Adelaide to Strathalbyn via the freeway and Mt Barker (or Meadows if you're on the south side of town). From Strath you exit out the south western corner of the town on the road to Langhorne Creek and the Milang turnoff is on the right about halfway to Lang Creek. Follow that Milang turnoff road until you see water with a heap of kites on it...
From Victor or Goolwa, head towards Strath and cut accross via Currency Creek wines or Finniss...

I'm more than happy to front the entry fees to support such a great event, but not sure if I'm at a high enough level to compete yet?.....
