G'day All,

Looking at getting some advise on a kite quiver for the Adelaide area. I know this is a bit like asking for the best beer in the world but anyway here goes:

I am about 85kg and just starting, got an 2011 11m Cab Switch and looking to add a high wind kite to this around the 8m mark as a bit of self harm prevention ;-)

First of all the size an 11m and a 8m would that be a good combo for Adelaide winds?
Secondly: would it be worth getting an 8m Cab Switchblade to retain the same kite feeling etc or should this not matter to much (remember I am a beginner)

Cheers
Jasper

I recon Yes and Yes

11 - 8 is a good split, if you run a two kite quiver in Adelaide

Staying with the same brand is also highly recomended

The north rebel is a great kite for high wind.
It also has 5th line which adds some extra easy safety for high winds

sorry, to the guy with a naish logo as a profile picture.

yes the the cab switchblade is an 11m is a great stable kite.
In a smaller size, 7m, i would go for something such as mentioned earlier, due to its stability and 5th line de-power (rather then a hybrid bridle setup).

does that suit....

I would have replied previously but would have said the same thing as Lang....

The North Rebal in a 8m or so would probably have the same grunt as a 11m Switchblade. I remember at Milang, Sully was on 9m North and Crocker was on a 12m SB and both keeping upwind and Sully is a little bigger than Crocker. Different brands have different ranges so the correct answer would be to stick to the same make and model but go smaller. This way you get the same feel in both kites and if you have bar or line issues, at least you'll have a spare that would work. I could have said, "get a Naish Park as they rock" but that wouldn't be the best advise.

Ok thanks Guys,

so there is consensus on the 8m in combination with an 11 (but not when I get a North rebel as I would be able to go smaller?)

Have been messing around to long, now we got the high winds and I don't have a kite!

Cheers
Jasper

There is a great kiteboarding shop on the main strip of Semaphore
just east of the old Odeon Cinema.
Bastion spends alot of time on the water and knows our local conditions.
He has great brands, demo gear, lessons and good advice.
Everything you need to go and most important great after sale service.
