Sadness and landyachting are two incompatible concepts in my opinion.
Every time I have a big can out in my blokart, I can't help but burst out laughing.
The revival or reintroduction of the OPEN class VI landyacht in Australia would seem to be the best thing that could have happened to the sport.
The benefits of the class are many and as I read it (correct me if I am wrong) are:-
1. An affordable entry level to the sport within reach of most budgets.
2. It is inclusive of commercially built landyachts.
3. It allows innovation through the use of different materials in construction such as aluminium, fibreglass and carbonfibre.
4. Within the class, "One Design" competitions can be held as well as open.
I and I am sure many other of us landlubbing sailors eagerly await publication of the definitive rules for this class and which body is to be the governing authority.
Mr hills, congratulations on being the convener of this forum which has grown into a live thing. Not without it's growing pains, but none the less growing.
Would it be a good idea to conduct a vote as to whether A.L.S.A. is going to be accepted by all as the governing body or not, or is this a given already due to it's affiliation with F.I.S.L.Y.
By the way, for all those interested, on the news page of the F.I.S.L.Y. web site there is a link to the web site for the "Worlds" in Patagonia. On the photos/videos page of that site there is some YouTube footage of the place Rada Tilly which I believe is the name of the beach town where they are being held. An awsome place, check it out. Paul and Susan, I am totally envious. You're going to have a whale of a time and I hope you come back "Heroes".
If we all got together maybe we could talk F.I.S.L.Y. into having the next "Worlds" at Yeppoon in Queensland. I know the beach is just as good but it's 20klm long.
Here's hoping, Cheers to All, Cisco.
