Well in case anyone was wondering (or worrying) I shouldn't have said "...half the purpose of...", I meant only that we have to do things that won't get under ALSA's skin as they seem very particular/short fused .

So any further thoughts on the topic, agreements or disagreements, comments?

One thing you can be sure of Lachy is that the ALSA "lurkers" have been watching everything that has been going on, on this forum.

Another thing you can be sure of is that this forum is open, free (as in non exclusive) and extremely well regulated by Laurie the "Lord of Light". I think he is secretly using us as case studies for his doctorate of philosophy.

If one was to take the trouble to go through all the threads on the landyachying forum, he or she would find that ALSA has been asked, invited and virtually begged to communicate with the wider land sailing community via this forum over the more than last 12 months.

Cheers Cisco

As per my email you can add me. I want to be a TRLSGroupie.
As to our name N.A.I.L.S. is good so long as there are no coffins around, though A.W.O.W. Australian Wind On Wheels could work

I agree with you Cisco, on all the points but...
...just thought I would run something past you all (not just cisco of course ).

NAILS (if we use) was not planned as being directly associated with the Seabreeze community (not based here) and therefore information the group recieved would not be automatically posted here. This said, I have no control over the members of the group and no wish to exert any. They would be free to distribute info as they see fit. Why do this I hear you ask (or not).

As mentioned on Seabreeze before, we wish to influence and hear from ALSA (rather than make a new national association, I dont think anyone is a fan of that). Seeing as they only talk to (some) clubs thats what I guessed this needs to be. They dont want to recognise Seabreeze and therefore some degree of distancing NAILS from here may be required. Dont you just love politics

In any case, I hope this little project allows the many isolated landsailors around this country to stay up to date with the national association and gain a measure of influence over the direction landsailing takes in Australia. This and getting a good communication and social/support network going in parallel with Seabreeze.

Thanks Test Pilot. Good name although Im not sure it describes the group and its purpose sufficiently. Its definately more fun than NAILS though

Howdy again. I apologise in advance for selecting a name and setting some things up, it appeared no one was terribly fanatic about a name suggestion and I wanted to get a move on before I loose more of my free time.

Well, as of now there is a NAILS mailing list from which any info will be distributed and there is a website being set up to use as a front for the endevour. Does anyone feel a little more clubbier now? If you feel the urge, check out:

www.freewebs.com/netausisolansai

Any prospective members who havent sent an email are urged to do so, I'd like to include everyone in decision making EDIT Note this is a club which will eventually apply for association with ALSA and therefore may charge a fee in the future. I urge anyone to join a local club if possible, dont want toes being stepped on in the future with dual membership situations. Not sure what the legalities are for people having two club memberships either.

P.S. Logo design for NAILS is also on the books, bring forth the sketches!

Lachlan well done in taking the lead and getting the ball rolling with this. I am sure that in the future many landsailors will look back and thank you.
Being part of a club can be really great at times. Despite the fact that today is the 21st Dec and many people are busy with Xmas shopping and holidays etc Lake Lefroy have had a good turn out of its members at bunnings where we are holding a sausage sizzle to raise funds. Lots of interest from the yachts on display too. So if your hungry and passing by you know where to call in today! My turn to go back soon. Two weekends ago we had our yachts all tied to gether sailing down Hannan St in our annual St Barbaras Parade - 10,000 + spectators. All good fun - and that is with out even going out to the lake!
cheers Susan
