.....and yes discussing politics on forums is fraught with danger as common ground is rarely expressed and ,well ....we all know what happens, even though its a serious issue, and on the addenda of the IPA. They are serious about selling the ABC:

Free market mantra and away with checks and balances....the same mistakes as made by those on the far left are now being promoted by those on the right.
Personally, I oscillate around the middle ground depending on the issue at hand, but am very adamant that checks and balances are the most vital element to be protected and strengthened. Deregulation of the banking industry ie weakening the checks and balances in the US lead to the greatest crime of the century.

faire while attractive for many valid reasons will be our downfall because of the 'nature of mankind' as sirgalivant mentioned.
I had a great business in the recording industry and the ABC took a fair bit of work by recording concerts at venues around Melbourne....I wasn't happy about it and still think they where not good for my little corner of the economic territory in that regard but will be a strong defender in advocating against the sale of the ABC.
