I have a 'force 10' diesel and Kero heater with a flu. I once saw one on ebay for sail. They have a good reputation. Cheers

Many years ago [1968] I bought what was called a catalytic heater. Used kerosene and a white dome eventually glowed. Supposed to be free of poisonous gases. Used it sleeping in a car with windows rolled up at Mount Shasta. Still here to talk about it, though never seen any for sale since.

That was very brave of you.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) analyzed the emissions from two commercial catalytic heaters in 2003. They found that while the amount of carbon monoxide released was small, the heaters' consumption of oxygen could potentially cause hypoxia (suffocation from lack of oxygen) in an airtight space. Therefore, you should only use catalytic heaters in ventilated spaces.

I still own a large one, big enough to heat my living room.
