This engine is supposed to be a rebuilt one from only 4 years ago. Probably only a few hours of running and reading your older posts seems it's been serviced adequately. Sounds like the engine never got pulled down, just a coat of paint after the head was serviced. I would suggest pulling the engine, taking it home and ripping it apart for an inspection by someone you can trust [you]. Make it your hobby. I just watched a few YouTube videos on the engine and they seem ideal for your vessel. Do you have a folding prop?

Yes, thats the feeling I get about the motor as well. In some ways I would like to put it on the hard stand at Woollamia and strip the motor down at home. Go through it with a fine tooth comb, get any corroded sections built up with welds, get things machined etc. but it would be a lengthy and expensive business.
A new 2k outboard and bracket seems much easier.
Wonder how Shoalhaven council would react if I sat the boat on the hard stands for 6 months on our front nature strip ;-)

Woollamia is where steel yachts go to die! Friend has his 45 foot Adams there. Was going to up for 3 months, close to 3 years now! Can the motor be removed with the yacht in the water? Sail up to GP and lift the engine out at the wharf. Use outboard and bracket as a temporary measure. Callala is not a bad place to sail on and off moorings anyway. Perhaps a sculling oar over the stern. CC Rider [Van de Stadt 29] has one up here. It's for sale too if anyone is interested!

needs to be out of water to remove motor unfortunately.
