Just about to round Wilson's Prom. Will overnight in Oberon Bay.
And Wilsns Prom is near the bottom of the earth so the photo is not upside down.

sorry no pictures of the moon rise but a little footage after east cardinal mud of a duel with Sydney 32 and sassy we were holding them off till the breeze drooped shaggy looked really cumfi coming back toward us and had a deservedly good result

Reef? What's a reef?
I love that boat Boty, she just pins a rail and trucks all day..

reef we are regretting not having changed to the heavy no 1 we procrastinated all the way to clevland yellow lost ground on comes a time and sassy changed up after the yellow and slowly edged them back in but not by enough
hindsight is 20 /20
that 20 plus knot breeze is fantastic for you guys also the boat looked very smooth and in control unlike most of the rest of the fleet

Not far really , a cracking good storm blew me off my mooring. I was debating to leave Saturday or Sunday but it looks like the weather gods have decided for me, so the summer cruise begins.
Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas and Happy New year to all.
Made up a family Youtube of a years sailing in Japan.
Explored all of the leeward passages and only ran aground twice.
Many of the local sailors haven't ventured to some of these places because of draft.
Good to have a small boat.
Next year, will do the outer islands.

Think we were the first to put the sails up on the western harbour this morning. Very light winds but had a crack at it. Made the schoolboy error of not thinking the storm would hit last night. Trying to be a role model for our kids I was wearing my PFD and couldn't get it off quick enough to avoid a soaking when the flash hale and rain came. Just managed to get the boy to throw up the jacket and put it on top. We had just come round into Woolwich and hubby was making the anchor ready. Sent them all below while I just went up and down and waited it out. Don't think I would have been wetter if you had thrown me overboard. Thankfully they all ignored my request to pack nothing as it was only one night. Spent NYE watching the fireworks in my hubbies spare shirt and boxers! But got a nice undisturbed anchorage and the fireworks were spectacular. Happy new year seabreezers.

funny!
Thanks for the post, nickic, you should do more!

We saw the new year in on the water, a gentle 5 knots and the water like a mirror of the foreshore for the stroke of midnight, after a brisk 15 knot easterly reach up around the islands. A good way to start the year I reckon.

Hi all

Currently sitting on our mooring at Eggs and Bacon Bay beside another Sailmaster after a quick (for my Sailmaster) sail down the river with the wind behind us

We were doing 5 to 6 knots occasionally touching 7 most of the way with just the main up which made for a pleasant sail in a decent breeze

Regards Don

Hard work this island stuff but I geuss someone's got to do it. Just 8 boats out for New Years and a good beach fire/party. It almost looks like QLD but better!

Nice photos. I heard today that most of the yachts there are Adelaide boats. It seems there have been a few sightings of stick nest rats in the islands. I have never seen one and had to look them up!

We parked near Seaka the first night, but didn't see your boat. As my foredecky is moving up that way, I will probably drop in a bit more often, so will give a holler when I am next up that way. He has a Phantom 32 which he intends to move up there in 2020.

We were just across the other side at Birkenhead Point when the storm came through. The western side is a much better end of the Harbour to watch the fireworks from (although we could not see the bridge) as it is far less crowded and less berserk after midnight.

Sounds like fun, love to anytime, I'll pm my mobile.
Ive got Wags next Wed, come up for a sail. I'm connecting a GoPro to the headboard to try and help with some trim options this weekend, while recording the boat speed/angles with RaceQs. I'm hoping it will help me discover more about my sailplan trim. Wednesday is a retest day in case the camera angles aren't right, so come and play if the weathers good!
Cheers,
SB

Can't do much mixing with people till March. I'll be off drugs and finished rehab at Wesley and my immune system will have kicked back in by then . I'm as fit as but restricted.
The mega dosages of the drug I've been on since july17 to save eyesight etc. (temporal Artritis) has nasty side effects including suppressing immune system which means all the flu ,Shingles etc. immunisations mean bugger all...Nov. 18 got Ramsay Hunt Syndrome which is Face Shingles followed by neuralgia etc. even though I had immunisation .That followed a heart artery blockage (stent) Aug 18 also caused by the bloody drug.

Sorry to hear it BB, that sounds rather character testing to say the least! Hopefully the boat is good for you if/when you get cabin fever. The offer is there anytime mate, and when you're right we'll pick yours or my boat and go sailing.

Passed this Sayer yacht this morning on my way out. About 40 foot. Monitor windvane and not a dinghy davit, shade house, solar panel tower in sight. This yacht is meant to sail! A real credit to her owner.

The first pics shows Craig and I standing next to a jizo.
A jizo is a roadside traveller's guardian. You can see them on the side of country roads in rural Japan.
This particular jizo is a little special.
On Nonojima island there was a red light district. That disappeared a long time ago, but from 200 years ago the ladies of the night tied a rope around this jizo.
They prayed for bad weather so the sailors would stay ashore and spend their last yen.
Even now the islanders tie a rope around the jizo.
The tradition in our harbour is to sail out to Jizojima ( a different island) and pray for safe sailing in the year ahead.
So on Jan 2nd we headed out with a nice 10 knot breeze.
Beautiful winter sky and at 2 degrees, of course a nudge of whiskey in our coffee.
On the google map. Jizojima is the little pink heart.
