Actually, I understand that not only were they replacing his Speeed and did, they replaced it with a shorter Speeed to suit the customer. Well done Sunova.

good companys have a strong product, great company's back there product ......... great work by Sunova sets a benchmark for the industry (not a sunova rider or sponsored or associated in any way )

So the bloke blows up knowing Sunova were already in the process of doing something about his warranty claim, then they accommodate him by changing the board size too.. It's kinda like a Greek Tragedy without the Greeks and a tragedy...

From what I read though, his main grief was with the NZ importer/dealer which got kinda nasty.

It really comes to something when you have a strop and stomp like a 4 year old.

I'd like to say "glad its sorted" but to be honest I hope he stays clear of here, no matter how good a surfer he may be.

Well I surf with the man every day and I can tell you he is good person . There was a certain amount of bad communication and miss understanding and he jumped the gun a couple of times . But I can tell you the perception portrayed in here is not a true account of the mans character . He is very happy with the new Board and surfing it very well .It has to be said that Sunova exceeded what most other Manufactures would do well done Tino and co

A person should not be defined by how long they have been around, rather by what they do and how they do it - being older is not an excuse to be rude
1. What was said was childish, unreasonable and harrassing
2. When would he feel the need to communicate what he said was wrong, without thought and how his experience ended? Surely he doe need another man to speak for him

Been on here since 2004, only 66 post but I'm not one to rabbit on endlessly. My opinion counts.

GizzieNZ threatened to hunt people down, kill them and maim them. That's definitely not "bad communication and miss understanding".

I have respect for you Towball, agree with most of your posts plus your sticking by your mate but you cant defend the indefensible, only makes you look like a goose.

The pasting GizzieNZ gave Sunova was out of line and he gets a NEW board for it. His behavior toward anyone who disagreed with his wildly varying points of view turned the forum toxic. I don't miss him.

I have no commercial interest, don't own a Sunova but I have seen a few around and they look alright.

I own three sups, have thousands of gps verified kilometers on them, mostly in the surf but flatwater too.

Sunova has simply replaced a board that was delaminating..nothing more, nothing less. They have not gone above and beyond.they just simply replaced a poorly made board. As they should.

Gizzie was victim blamed unfairly.. when all he wanted was the product he paid to be replaced with 1 that was not falling to bits.

Gizzie did not get a NEW board.he got his newly purchased delaminated board replaced under warranty. Which is not getting a new board.

he was bagged by the Cult of Sunova.when it was Sunova's poor product that was the issue.

Yep he got a bit carried away due to frustration and lack of communication from Sunova when they didn't reply to his emails. Anyone in business that deals with the public should know how easy it is for people to get overly excited..and as such you fix the problem and keep people in the loop.

It was a simple fix.

OH please spare me the drama..he threatened to kill?.it was a lame attempt at a joke so don't you start drama queening something that was stupidly said.

I don't think there IS a greatest.

Maybe that's why there is so many people out there trying to find it.......

And when they think they've found it, and it turns out to be a temporary high, some get narky. Like old mate, who seems to have been welcomed with open arms over on the zone. Some are still bashing him.

When I bought a squirrely little yellow board, and found I could really throw it around, I felt f'n awesome. Like that small bloke trapped in this big body had been freed. Whilst I was in that space I wore their cap, and felt drawn towards their "cult". And told plenty of people how good they were.

When the squirrely little yellow board fell apart around my ears, I felt a bit sick. And bitten. But not hard enough. I bought more. In hope. In vain.

I really, really hope that the Sunova "Cult" as you call them enjoy their high a fair bit longer than I did, cause I'm still searching. Probably always will be.

I have the board with me - i.m.o. it is an impact/pressure delam , not a manufacturing defect.. i should know the difference by now. Also we offered him a shorter board if he so wished - which he did.

Personal death threats are always taken seriously by me and my mates, it crosses the line and that's why we are still alive.

That Guy - since you seem keen to join in the conversation now that Gizzie is out of the picture, would you be interested to provide your side of the story?

Although I don't agree with the way Gizzie went about it, it seems he had a legitimate concern about the lack of response for a LONG time after his issue was reported - was the replacement underway at that point, or was that only offered after he went to extreme measures and made it a public thing?

(and for good measure - have owned 2 Sunova's, liked em both & didn't have any issues, but I do think a balanced response is only fair now that he cant defend himself!)

Hey damo666,

Firstly i would like to say i do work for Sunova so i definitely have commercial interest, but i also dealt with this matter first hand so i may be able to shed some light on the situation..

Gizzie first made a post a few months ago asking about advice on how to repair a small delamination on his board, once Tino (Boss Man) saw this he replied to the post and requested Gizzie send up through some photos and various other details relating to the board.. At this point in time we made the decision to replace his board with a brand new one, (as some of you may seen, Gizzie then made another post then "Sunova Quality A Winner") Which we told him we would ship over to New Zealand with our next shipment as we had no replacement boards on the ground over there..

A few weeks went past and Gizzie obviously wanted to know where his board was, so he then emailed Tino again asking when his board would be arriving.. At this point in time Tino was on a 2 week sales trip around America so he wasn't able to be on top of everything.. Obviously as Gizzie had not gotten a reply yet (which is 100% our fault) he took to Seabreeze to express his dissatisfaction, which is understandable but personally i think he may have gone a little far..

What made this even worse was i personally wasn't at the factory at this time either, so myself and Tino weren't aware that we had actually already shipped out Gizzie's replacement and no one had actually emailed him and told him it was on the way.. So before Gizzie started making all these posts his replacement board was already on the way to the NZ distributor.. So the piss poor communication internally and slow replies to Gizzie (again 100% our fault) took what should have been a relatively simple warranty claim and turned it into a saga for the whole Seabreeze community to see..

Anyway Gizzie has his new board now and everything worked out for all parties in the end..

Hope that sheds some light for everyone that has been following this topic closely..
