I'll have a pencil and paper ready for you at the Mambo..

Don't tel me that I need to start saving for a new Naish flat water board now..

I knew it would happen though after Naish got their arse kicked by Starboard at that recent river race..

I hear you Simon!

But we dont quite have the gear for downwinders and even in 15 knots+ we are having fun!

We have been watching the 'downwinders' sliding down the coast whilst we stare endlessly out to sea scoping that elusive set, but we cant help ourselves! Even in 15 knots we are out there surfing!

Cant say I have ever surfed before when the wind is strong enough to affect the blade of your paddle - but we come back with smiles on our faces, so its ALL GOOD!

I am learning heaps about getting the most out of the the 'Perth like' conditions!

BP/NZ - trust me, the Wahine is TO DIE FOR!

Great end to trip had a few beers with Blane and managed to talk him into letting us have the 9 2 and 10 footer

Really humble man with much aloha who is really passionate about designing great boards for himself and his mates.

There will be some excellent boards coming out soon.

This one has him really stoked. He looks a bit confused as I am asking a dumb question probably

5 customs in the store 3 came to Australia with Lummers 8 6 in the foreground; not sure when that will leave Sydney though there was a long line of people 'just looking'.

Stopped off in Sydney had a couple of surfs. Thanks Goatie for the memorable little paddle at Dee Why watching you pull in where no sup is meant to go was inspiring; looking forward to shots of you on the new Laguna custom when it comes and Jas from Balmoral who took me to Manly for a fun session with Homeally, Matt and Trev I think. Much appreciated.
Really good to put faces to names.

The whole meeting on the internet thing is hard to explain especially when sharing a room at a B&B and the 80+ year old owner asks in polite banter "When did you meet?" we say "Er this morning", " How do you know each other?" we reply "we met on the internet" which was followed by a period of uneasy silence.

Mahalo AA for organising a fantastic trip met inspirational people tried a bunch of boards and came back with my dream board. November next time!!!!
Mahalo especially to Jim at Tropical Blends you are a legend for knowledge and sharing your boards and waves with us.
Mahalo to Austin and Blane thanks for your generosity and friendship we are in your debt. This can be repaid when you come to West Oz on a surf trip.

The 10er!!

AA is stoked with the 9 2

Waiting for last leg home at Sydney airport now; been really lucky no charge for excess baggage from Hawaiian or Qantas.

Aloha everyone will not bore you any more with this thread. Pull in Goatie would.

As I said in the other topic, board looks the goods Hilly, you seemed pretty comfy on the ledgey drops and it had plenty of drive and looseness.

Enjoyed surfing with ya, for some reason I pictured you as a penguin Funny the whole internet thing as you say - seabreeze rocks!! Catch ya in the West sometime.

AAh Matty, patience patience! Of course she is in SYDNEY!
Cant let he go without a few turns perves.

DJ, Foot came out pretty good - looks like it got a bit infected the last few days, but she'll be right! Those GODDAM ugly booties worked a treat

OLIVERs, the board weight on these customs is very light. Wood makes it a bit heavier than the lightest customs - sorry not going to be drawn into that one!!
Based on what we saw in Hawaii though, weight is almost a non issue for most people. Durability was the key issue from Waikiki to pipe.

The board I brought back is a 9'2 wide ripper and going into production later this year. There are quite a few new models on the way in smaller Rippers, Guns and Wide AA's.

GG, Crowds and vibe were pretty mellow, but then again it was not pumping and we were not on the Northshore! Even when it was flat you could hardly move over on the North side. Blane was nice enough to let us know that SOLID swell was hitting form the North the day after we left

Just like to back up Hilly's comments about the Aloha we received over there. From the guesthouse, to Austin and Blane to Jim at Tropical Blends (the man with the Bamboo boards) the warm reception and generosity was amazing! Even though the surf was crap, we had a ball!

Sounds like some great boards on the way. As from what i knew the wide ripper now 9'6 is the only board in the ripper series suited for 85/90kg riders. General riders

But all the new timber boards will be rippers as well, I presume the new boards are for light weights vs the wide ripper now, Being smaller in length for a start.

I guess it will make sense more when the website shows the range.
