Hello everyone, looks like u had a really good turn out for this. Seems like theres a lot of keen paddlers at the moment. Just a suggestion but does anyone think it could be a weekly thing? I try and paddle every chance I get but always push harder when there is a crew of paddlers.
Hi Marcus
Kev and I run 3 sesssions a week - Tuesday and Thursday at 0515 and Saturday usually at 0630 (unless there is swell). We have an organised training program we work to, so there is alot of variety and intensity. There are usually 5 of us out, you are more than welcome to join us, meeting at Zephrs cafe - north carpark at the above times. PM me if you are keen.
We thought it best to have the time trial monthly, weekly would lose a little motivation to back
it up each week - also Darren has his 10km session on Sat morning, which some of us and others also participate in. Our usual Saturday session will be a long endurance session of 2hours 75% steady state or fartlek training. All welcome.
I should explain, our group started out as kev and myself (we are both physios) getting together to use our combined experience to train and push our programs. Local guys came down and joined in with us, it is great fun and good motivation. I personally feel that in SUP there should be no club like boundaries, so a north vs south idea seems a little outside the inclusive nature of SUP. I really enjoy joining in Darrens 10 km session on saturday mornings, it is awesome to have that option if the guys go surfing. Over the next month there is a development that is coming to fruition - when it comes about there will be some exciting options in WA SUP.
Cheers
Greg
Hi Greg
Great to see you doing time trials.
I didn't know at the start if weekly time trials would work over a long period. Last year we did 5 weeks and then stopped. This year we decided just to let them roll. Now into the 9th week. The numbers are growing and we are getting people turn up who I have never met or seen with a board before.
I am guessing you have a current against you in the paddle at some stage. Ours are in a closed lake so we only have wind occasionally so it makes it hard to compare. Look forward to reading more on this thread and seeing how everyone improves.
The time trials over here have seen a massive improvement in peoples times in the last 2 months and have been a weekly bench mark for how their training is going.
Cheers
