Hey guys,

Have been surfing a Naish 11'4" which has been great - catches almost anything - just a little cumbersome in bigger swell and I have found in strong offshore the board almost trying to fly !

Very much enjoying the board but feel I would like to go smaller - my concern is that I am fairly broad and various sports (and of course a few beers) have brought me up to 95kg -

am I too heavy for this board ? I don't want to spend half my time trying to stay on it ! Also want to still catch small waves - as we r getting in Perth as usual during the summer but want it to cope with bigger sets as I just had down in Yallingup - Quick story - my leash broke down there in a big set - thank God a few others surfer's board suffered the same fate - I grabbed someone else's and thought mine was dead and smashed on the reef but to my amazement another surfer came paddling up to me on mine! - by chance I had his - no surprise I was stoked to see my board in one piece and the thought of swimming 500 yards back to the shore with a paddle in one hand was not funny !!

Anyway back to my question - any of you bigger guys surfed a new Naish 9'6" and are they still fun or will I be struggling

Thanks

Robbie,

Mate I am just under 90kg and surf the 9'6 and love it.

I jumped from the 11'4 down to the 9'6 and while it was a bit of struggle at first it is worth it. Now it feels as stable as anything. I am now wondering if I should go even shorter...

HI Mate

I have the 9'6" and am 94kg. Love it. It took a little bit of practice but it surfs great for our weight. It definitely will float you well. Go for it.

Hey Robbie , hate your Avater

I am normaly between about 100 kg -105Kg a bit heavier at the moment with all the silly season treats, the 9 6" Naish will be perfect for you, no worries at your weight.
Awesome board for waves like Yals at 4 -8 ft.

Hey Shoki,

I'm 95Kg on a good day and have been riding the Naish 9'6 lately with now worries. It is very stable for it's size and you get used to it very quickly. It catches waves almost as easily as my Naish 11'6. I thought I would struggle downsizing to the 9'6, but after just a few surfs on it I decided to try the 9'3. Unfortunately I broke my ribs today on my first session on the 9'3, so I won't be able to test it out properly yet.
