Hi guys,
Planning to take the fam to Hawaii in late July. Want accommodation right in the heart of Supping over there but got no idea where to go or which island for that matter!..... Not taking boards over, will just hire.

Where are the best supping spots or beaches to got to? Don't want accommodation 20 minutes away from the right beaches!!

Any ideas would be much appreciated! The travel agents I've spoken to haven't been much help.

Wizard, we stayed at THE OUTRIGGER ON THE BEACH in Waikiki, you can hire boards from Kona surf shop, one block back from the beach, the hotel has a lock up board rack which is located ten steps from the beach,The hotel changes to use this service but will worth it.
We also went to Kauai and stayed at the Princeville resort, you can sup at places like Pine Trees. I don't know much about surf in July thow.

hope this helps, you lucky bugger mac

Going to Kauai will actually make you feel like you have been in Hawaii as opposed to a resort. Dont forget, they are Islands so there will be some swell on one side of the island or another. Southside will be the go during the northern hemisphere summer. You will encounter trade winds (http://www.pdc.org/iweb/high_wind.jsp?subg=1) during summer..........

You cant actually drive all the way around Kauai, so keep this in mind when you look for accommodation.

I'm not sure how many places will be renting boards there, but I am sure you will find something close to where you decide to stay.

If you want any more information about Kauai, feel free to send me an email and I will try to help out if I can. -Ronnie

Hawaiin Airlines have some AMAZING DEALS going on right now- 2 people return to Honolulu, $1390 inc. taxes.

I am heading over first week of September for 6 days, so if anyone wants to split the deal, PM me. $690 return each.

If your planning a Maui visit (SUP heaven) speak to Bart at Kanaha Kai.V helpful and reasonable rental prices .I reserved a Starboard 10'5 for a week.Best book it from here though.
South side is the go atm I believe? or pm Byron on this site.Careful where you stay though or you could end up spending alot of time behind the wheel.

If you want to PM me I can hook you up with a GREAT place to stay in Kailua (200m from Kailua beach) on Oahu and you can rent boards from the Naish shop in Kailua. All very easy and a great place to SUP with flat water and easily accessible waves. Some great touring SUP around there too to the Mokulua Islands in the Bay etc.

Oahu for better waves and less wind. Maui if you like high wind with your SUPing.

SUP rental is no problem there.
