Sadly, this video probaly applies to me! I mainly kitesurf, and surf on a 9 foot mal, but the idea of having a blow up board sort of appeals to me. Do many people actually use these boards, and is there any where in Adelaide that sells them?

Check this little Video out of the Shubu , you can get through Balmoral Paddle Surf in Manly. These boards aren't great in the surf but they are still heaps of fun.

Thanks Piros, looks OK, but would really like to try before I buy. The bag looks about the same size as one of my kites, so that really appeals!

I recently got a C4 iSUP. It is supposed to be a 10'6" x 34" x 4" XXL which is wider than the normal 10'6", but shorter than the 10'9" x 34" x 4" XXL, however when measured it seems to be somewhat narrower (32") and I'd guess is some sort of transitional or end of season model. Anyhow.

It weights about 13kg rolled up with the pump etc, and packs down to about 40cm diameter roll. I have had trouble pumping it up hard enough as the plastic pumps arent great. I weigh about 95kg so need it hard or get too much flex. It floats my weight no worries.

Have done quite a lot of harbour/river on it and its fine for that. My 8 year old also can paddle it ok. I've had a few goes surfing and first few times was too soft and flexed up over the waves instead of picking up on them. More pressure seems to have helped that, and I need to give it some more goes. Need a bit of a different technique as well as it is so light you dont get any glide like on my EPS board. Am yet to master it.

Overall I'm pretty happy with it as I'd planned mostly for flat water paddling when travelling. I might think about a 10' version if going to surf it a lot as I'd assume it flexes less from less length.

I got it via Lou from Eastcoast in Sydney who was extemely helpful.

cheers, wayne.

Hi Wayne, looks like your'e in Perth, by the pics, so it seems that the only place to buy one of these, is the East coast, via the net. I've got no problem with that, but was just hoping to try one before I buy. One forum member here in ADL has kindly offered his ULI 10 footer GLX, to try, which at this stage does not mean much to me! Offer me a type of kite to use, and I know what to expect, but a SUP is very new for me, so will look forward to trying out his board. I want to stay with the inflatable type, because of the portability factor. I wonder, are the more expensive boards that much better than say a $395 one on Ebay? I would rather spend more than less to get something that you can actually surf, as that is what I want it for.

Worth checking this blog out for info on ULI Standups - UK dude who seems to rate them. Links to ULI site and some youtube slide shows.
