Hey Olie....I was about to apoint you as a pro rider for my boards......
Now that would be good to see - a line up of bald, fat over 40 team riders with go pro attachments. Forget Piros and his bevy of beauties. Let's give those US shareholders something that will really make them fondle their worry beads.
It's not so absurd. When you are aiming products at the general public then it's better to know what they think than the opinions of a few pampered pros.
I got several cheap and free kites from three manufacturers by giving them useful feedback that they weren't getting from their pro riders.
As a general public kind of rider, I want sub-10kg SUP in the bigger sizes.
The current crop of short boards from Naish and PSH are all plenty light enough to chuck under my arm and toddle off to the beach.
The 10-11' plus boards are heavy enough to cause me a sore shoulder after the 800 metre walk to the beach and it's enough of a discouragement to make me think twice about hauling the SUP out of the overhead rack.
The solution is to make the big boards lighter, and/or make the short boards stable enough that I can comfortably handle standing on them in chop waiting for wind-blown sets.
I think both solutions are doable. If you look at the JP web site a sailboard of similar volume to my Starboard weighs around 9kg.
