I know this was directed at Blane but the guns will be used this weekend at the Olukai Maliko race. We do not expect to place high but once were done we will pack the boards up and head to the southshore to surf after...lol..

Casso Noah was trying your new trick tonight but could not complete it.

Aloha

More of Austin. The guy throws down hard on this big board. Sooo fun

bane, its just good surfing to anyone. faded bottom turn.then set up for what ever off the top. in this case an awesome hack/cuttie. the rebounds no too shabby either. surfers should never underestimate a good bottom turn in my opinion.
keep the photos coming - inspiring
cheers

And how good is it laying one down for the big guys

Blane is that a handle I think I can see in that board also?? even more the reason I will want one

I will choose the 12' Gun/Ripper 8 out of 10 surfs. Crap conditions or glass conditions. Its just so versatile.

I will add, you have to be ok with swooping. That's what this board does. It swoops, glides and connects sections no matter how big the waves or small. Paddles like a dream. Its comforting to know no matter how big it gets, this board gives you the best shot at making the wave. My dream surf would be this board at a perfect, smooth, smoking right hander, light winds, 25'+ faces, with mile long rides... Ahwoooooo!!!

swoopings one term, looks like the boys are carving to me, anyway my kinda turns. who does wont to do those sorts turns in the photos

We used to call one of the locals at Margarets "swooper" friggen great surfer, but really used to swoop and glide on a wave like big eagle

Hey Blane, anyone using the 12' for down-winders like the Maliko Gulch run? I realise it wouldn't be as fast as the full on down wind boards but I'm betting its way more fun riding the swells.
Got a feeling you'd better ship some 12' Guns boards to OZ ASAP!

For me the board is to short for a true, downwind board. I did do an insane downwind with solid surf and it was really fun dodging sets, riding from spot to spot and getting mowed down from sneaker sets! Open ocean downwind will leave you longing for a real downwind 16+ footer.

YES! - I can do something Noah can't do!

I'll swap him the capability of doing a "Casso" for one of those helicopter 3's that he can do (and that I can't).

Yeah thats a stick on Mick - due to land in 2 weeks.

A bit of feedback on them here-
www.standupzone.com/forum/index.php?topic=3853.0

Most of the new wide and AA, PSH boards come with moulded handles.

If you are ever in Hawaii you can catch Austin at the PSH shop keeping both the front and back end happening. 'Howzit Bro' Yonehiro was pretty much starting out when I first met him 2 years ago - looks like he's smashing it now!!

There seem to be some unstated assumptions about athleticism and general balance here, and also, perhaps more importantly, stage in the sport...

It is fair to say that I might grow out of my 12' x 32" aircraft carrier in a few months, but in the meantime, I find it challenging enough heading down the coast side on to a 10 knot chop overlaid on swell.

And there is no way my wife would be having fun on anything less than 11'6". She is not the athletic type and has poor balance. But with the aircraft carrier, she's out there loving it.

So... if I could only pick one for the family to all enjoy right now - it'd be reasonably long and reasonably wide.

That said, I expect soon we will have multiple boards in the family (maybe 10' 6" wide?)

I have two customers who have found that with the right volume from thickness and less length they have achieved stability from 10ft 6in by 30in better than their 12fters. now both are on 9fters and 9ft 6inches. oops

If you could only own 1 Sup board which would you pick , it will interesting to see peoples choice.

Mine would be a Gerry Lopez 10-3 still has good glide for long paddles and surfs really well and still a good board for newbies & family.

Starboard 10-5 would run close second.

Post your vote.

Why I choose the 12' Gun. Versatility. However, I do agree with Simon. Thank goodness we don't have to choose!!!

Ikaika at Waimea, 12' Gun on the right, 9-6 Hand Glassed Ripper left top, 9-3 Ripper left bottom

Ahhhh. The joys of having a choice.
