I SUP myself but fortunately I have a more broadminded approach. I like to look at the bigger picture and looked at the other nominees to learn what they had achieved before I made up my mind. At least I'm not an ostrich with its head stuck in the sand and its bum stuck up in the air.

Dude, im as broadminded as they come, But the thread said "Jamie Mitchell for Nat Geographic Adventurer" it didnt say Who's your pick for Nat georgraphic adventurer", or Lets get together and discuss the great acheivements of all the nominated peep's for national geographic" Your first comment had a very negative un-suppportive tone to it, and in your opinion JM dosnt deserve the title because there are other nominations 'in your opionion" that are more deserving. You cant make a broad statement like "the whole thing is a joke" , and its very Parachiol (a fancy word, which ive proberly spelt wrong, that means "the focus is on" Paddle boarding..of course the focus is on paddle boarding, its a paddle boarding forum, and JM is regarded as one of the best in the world...so while my head is in the sand, and my bum is in the air, please feel free to get in line and kiss it

whens the last time you completed an epic challeging adventure , taken on a few forty foot waves have you.If you have id like to read about it.Her achievment was amazing for some one so young.People jump on board because people like them inspire other people and can also inspire whole generations of kids to chase their dreams ect ect.

you must be taking the piss , well i hope you are.

just completed my last epic adventure about 5 mins ago....posted my first forsale item on Ebay.... holy crap that was worse than masterbating with a cheese grater!

as far as jumping on board, there is support and then there is support....eyesrolling... If you want to see me as knocking go right ahead...but also read the whole thread through again and look at Petermc and planesailing's posts....considering we are in a SUP forum and JM was one of the pioneries in this country alot of us are familiar to his efforts....

like I said they have all achieved highly in their feilds. It just becomes a pissing contest to compare them...ie Jessicas effort is fantastic...the distance makes it a big deal.......I would like to know the total km's JM has paddled on his feet/knees and stomach, total of waves over 20 foot he has been on with just some foam and fibre glass.....the injuries he has suffered and struggle through to keep going etc etc.....do you see what im getting at????

and alot of the others would have as well....

the term "our" just rubs me up the wrong way, like when you go to a shop and the /girl or lady calls you darl or hun....or when ford/commodore drivers think there car is better than the other by association with motor racing....

I have respect for all those people and their achievements....some got WAY more publicity than others....which isnt reflective of their achievement...more just popular Australia....

Lol masturbating with a chesse greater , that right their would win you adventurer of the yearI think their all amazing achievments , unfortunately in OZ the tall poppie syndrome is still alive and well.I used to wear Nikes caus i wanted to be like Mike , then i purchased a quick blade cause Jamie has one , ect ect.All inspiring people , all deserve to win.

Crikey.... Nobody was asking anybody else to allow Jamie to take the virginity of their daughters or have their life savings.

It's a popularity contest, peoples choice awards. I hope Jamie wins, his achievements collectively will pave the way for other phenomenal athletes from Australia to perhaps one day become professional paddlers also and really show the world how it's done. How our guys compete so well on a global level while still working full time is testament to the desire and ability of these people.

This is a stand up paddle forum, the link simply asked you click on the link and vote for Jamie. Sure each of the people have done something special, sure I would also rather have written Jamies bio for that site, it confused me and I have some awareness of his achievements but it's nothing to argue about. I love an argument, let me come up with something else that we can all pretend we care about to argue over things that really do not matter.

Stop whining about it, click the link and vote daily. If you don't vote for Jamie vote for the dude who slept with spiders or something...

English 101:

[b]Parochial

Definition:

1. narrow-minded: concerned only with narrow local concerns without any regard for more general or wider issues

Not a fancy word, one word commonly used to descibe the above.

Where do I state that "JM dosnt deserve the title because there are other nominations 'in your opionion" that are more deserving". You have no idea who, if I did, vote for.

You obviously

1: didn't read my last post in its entirety
2: didn't grasp what I was trying to convey
3: are being selective in what you take on board to process
4: are an ostrich with its head stuck in the sand and its bum stuck up in the air

As far as the voting process goes it is a joke. Any process that allows more than one vote from an individual is open to abuse.

Yes this is a SUP forum but that doesn't mean I can't have an opinion and put it forward here for discussion.

As for getting in line to kiss your butt....no thanks

Petemc i think you have taken what Scubasim has said the wrong way totally.

She is simply supporting and voting for someone she believe's deserves the award.

Count me in aswell. JM is a legend!!! The guy has won Molokai 9 times, this year will be 10!!!! Seriously anyone that can win the race, is a true adventurer.

Can you or could you cross 52km of wild windy ocean but then win it 9 times?

Got my vote again JM.

You obviously feel the need to attack as your logic has gone out the window. You attributed comments to me that I didn't make and now cannot justify yourself.

1) you are a douch bag....won't dignify that one, says a lot about your character though.
2) you are a douch bag with a dictionary....perhaps you need one. Look up what douch means. Very unladylike.
3) you are a douch bag with a national geographic subscribtion....don't subscibe or read it.
4)all of the above..

4)....hey you started the name calling....5 comes after 4

Wasn't being patronising just stating an opinion.

What a ridculous thread.

Support someone just because they're a paddleboarder; how parochial. Have a look at the other nominees and what they have achieved.

You can cast a vote once per day......

The whole thing is a joke.

lets break it down:

1st comment, condemming the OP and those that support the idea of getting behind JM....who some of us have met and know him more than just "that guy" and know there is more than the little blurb provided on that site

2nd comment, No where did it say in this thread "vote for Jamie" or get behind a fellow paddle boarder "or lets help OUR Jamie"....you decided to make that assumption....and the assumption that, atleast, the previous posters had just blindedly vote for JM..

3rd...the voting system was not set up by seabreeze or any of its members...yes it may be a joke but it doesnt help your cause

4th...thats your opinion and thats fine...but as it was put at the end of a fairly negative post regardless of your intent it was only going to come off that way here....

Wow, this could just go on for days and days and days....

Patronising: Treat with an apparent kindness, that betrays a feeling of superiority

www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Douchbag

Douche bag: A stupid asshole, concerened with stupid ****. Someone who is so concerned with themselves, so much so, that they dont see they dont just undermind everyone else, but themselves as well.

Oh P-lease, douch bag is quite tame by todays standards
I'll wear the unlady like thing, cos im the first to admit it! ooh, and i also know that a douching bag is some sort of feminine hygene equipment used for douching Va Ja Ja's...just so you can save yourself the time in explaining to me what the actual use is for it...oh and yes Va Ja Ja..being Vagina!

Thats it, im out. Enjoy!! Funnily enough ive wasted enough time on the puter!
Just so you know i know its COM-PUTER, and i am aware 5 comes after 4...but 4 was my answer "all of the above" to my own multiable choice selection

They are all great people!

David de Rothschild has been around a bit too ! But old banking money does help "bank roll" some of his missions (I would assume??)...

Did any of you see a doco on the "Sunday Times Golden Globe Race" from 1968/1969? The games played by Donald Crowhurst...
But;
Bernard Moitessier decided to abandon the commercialised race (which he had a very good chance of winning), when he was somewhere near Brazil on the return leg to England, and he continued onto Tahiti ! That was more than 1 and a half circumnavigations. A freak ! In 1968/1969, and no satellite navigation !
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_Moitessier

PS - I'm pretty sure if you all caught up for a drink and talked story you would be friends

understandably Her age plays a big role.....I wonder if she will contiue to adventure into her later years???? like I said, you compareing 1 big act to a life of big acts......its really a pissing match...

personaly Id rather take my chances in a boat than a small board left to power it myself...
