seems a real battle atm moment between the proto maliko 12,6 14 maliko and all stars.

been a big week for all stars. I have my reservations about them for dw ing, but the pro are scoring on them.

the week before casper did super good on a 12.6 and kai dusted up the field the week before.

but if its a contest for the racing paddlers dollars it sb by a nose atm .

but is it the best boards or the best paddlers .

im calling for the next race naish and star board paddlers have to swap

The Naish Maliko is a full-on planing nose design whereas the All Star is more of a hybrid. So surely which board is best for the conditions just depends on the conditions. I've not tried either board yet, but I'd expect the Maliko to shine in DW or in races where surfing is involved, and the All Star to be better in flat water or upwind. But what is most curious to me is that team riders like Caspar and Kai are choosing to use the Maliko over the Javelin in so many races. I'd have expected the Javelin to be the default choice for the vast majority of races. But I guess Naish doesn't currently have a full-on displacement nose type board at the moment so the difference in flat water between the Maliko and Jav may not be so great.
There has been a bit of a shift away from specialist flat water boards amongst the top elite racers recently (see eg. Fanatic racers using the Falcon rather than the Strike), but maybe this is more to do with the nature of the recent races than anything else, and we'll see the flat water boards shine later on in the new season.

Seems the SB's have the edge in longer races and the Maliko's fire in the shorter sprints.....but then again, it could be the paddlers
