Because I have recently become weird, and am no longer in the loop, I haven't heard anything about Mambo this year? I can only guess after the huge success last year that SUP will again be part of the Mambo. Does anyone know the theme? Who going? Gonna be interesting trying to ride the 8'10" with a million beers in me. too much fun.

Yes JB it's on again for sure.. The dates are Nov 26 -29th (Thu,Fri,Sat,Sun).

I asked John Smythe how long before the SUP's out number the Kite Surfers and Windsurfers.. and he said he'd give it one year (this year)..

He said this year SUP will be huge.. I think everyone's going... There's a huge crew from Vic going.. I can't wait.

I am coming and bringing my Sup,surfboard 6'4, Kite gear and windsurfing stuff and hope to squeeze in a beer or three.Not enough room in the old car for the wife so she will have to stay home!!!

Already booked the accomodation months ago!!!!!!!!!! I'm commited to the Mambo cause!!!!!!!!

Yeah, just got the green light. Who'd be silly enough to put a 16 year wedding anniversary and a son's 10th birthday right in the middle of the Mambo weekend!

I'm bringing the whole crew, on the proviso that I might need to duck off and do a little bit of paddling from time to time.

Hey Casso, shoulder must be on the mend then?

A couple of questions.

Is there a limit on entries like the Snowy? Any spots you guys would recommend for camping?

I can answer that.. ALL ARE WELCOME.

It's not a comp.. It's a gathering of people with a common interest and at the end of 4 days of fun some awards are handed out to deserving people..

You might have to Google for the camping question.. but accommodation is pretty cheap at that time of year.

There is a caravan park 25meters from the contest HQ and it has all the mod cons for the kids.Pool, Play ground etc. Melissa has all the info so I'll get her to post up the link to the park tonight.
I think you will need to book ahead as the kiters pack out the tent and van sites.

The most striking difference from last year will be the equipment.
Last year the 11foot+ brigade was out in force.

A little bit better each day. Still out of the water for another two weeks, at least - doctors orders. Apparently shouldn't have kept surfing after I did it - what do you do though? It was the Aussies!

Tween Waters has camping as well as cabins. It's right across the road from the main contest site.

and packin a spare liver and a life size blow up doll to pose as me for the family while i surf and kite and drink myself to a stupor just like last year

No entry limits and you don't even need to pre-register - just sign-up when you get there. It sort of is a comp - a freestyle comp with not many rules, just surf/paddle your brains out and somebody will work out who went the hardest/performed the best are over the weekend.

I haven't been for the last 4 or 5 years but during the 11 years straight prior to that I have never seen
the bar breaking that good. Fingers crossed it will be firing again this year. I had it good one
New Years with only about 8 guys out which was stange considering the time of year. I'm pretty
excited to get back to Merimbula after a long break!
