Travis paddled the 14' because he knew he could not qualify for nationals anyway even racing a 12'6 as he is not from NSW, and he had a new 14' that he never raced before so he wanted to try it before flying to Europe where he was supposed to use this particular board the next week. Same board as he used last week at the BOP long distance. So more a practical reason than anything else
