I have emailed the Mal club about adding the Ladies Unlimited & Ladies SUP Surf Heat and when I hear back I will let you know.

I would start trying to get a good following now (Ladies) as if they don't get the numbers they will pull the divisions that have the least attendance.

Thanks Jodie. I know there'll be at least 3 girls from the Gold Coast who would like to race on boards 14ft or bigger.

As for the surfing, if they held a womens SUP surf event I would be in it for sure. Maybe they could consider a womens division that's not a 'PRO' event, just to encourage the girls to get involved (there doesn't necessarily have to have prize money up for grabs). I'm considering entering the surf event anyhow, but it would be really great if we could have a girls division, and if the numbers are low they could maybe run a two-final format (to give the girls a chance to have 2 surfs) and take points from both to decide a winner?

I totally agree ali cat! :)

There needs to be a womens sup surf division- there is definatley alot of interest and i think it would be great for promoting the sport to fellow girls.

Womens Surf category would be great. I would consider entering though I would have to save to come over from the west!

This from Alan Atkins

With all these things its about the numbers.
All SUP events are pretty much run as “open” which means there is no gender stipulation.

When the number of entries for females shows some significant increase then I am sure we will be able to look at it.

In the Festival SUP surf event I think we only had one female entry last year. (Shakira)

We are very short of time as usual, so there are lots of competing ‘wants”

Get your entries in if you are serious about the SUP Surfing - they will see the number and act on it.

There is also a limited number of entries for the SUP event if more ladies enter or the Ladies enter early - that would make a big impact.

So don't just write about it here get your entries in!!!!

OK, If you say so!!!

There might be a lot of cheesed off boys though (who leave their entry till late and find out all the spots are filled with women?)
Do you know how many spots there actually are in the SUP surf event?
Do you think that if we get 6+ girls enter in the next month or so they would put the division in? (that way we wouldn't be taking away spots from the blokes).
By the sounds of this thread so far, I am pretty sure we could rattle up that number of girls without too much trouble?

you will find out the sup event is planned into the festival and they wont change the format because of time, sup to them is second class anyway but they know it is a big ticket event with luke and tc etc, girls, when we can get our event going, noosa beachboys sup club that is,we will have ladies and age division as long as we can get the starters,we are hoping for an event at noosa next year.for now you will just have to compete with the guys.be patient, your turn will come

Just heard from Phil

No discounts on second entries this year I'm afraid. Final schedule not set but races most likely Sun 14, SUPS surf middle to late week with finals at weekend.

I want to enter but last year they were really uncertain on the actual time and day for the sups heats untill a few days before , that makes it really hard for me to organise work. Will it be the same this year.

last year they ran it all on one day which was great for all the crew that booked a full weeks accomodation.
