PSH 9'6W RIPPER or Stick with 9'6waa

85kg skills 4 out of 10 wide ripper might be a handfull

Also it is for all conditions and 1ft to 6

So far its a NO No NO and no to the ripper

Thanks

Bdrs

The 9 6 WR is an UNREAL board! But it is aimed at us heavier guys. I love this board. Set it up as a thruster and it rides like a shortboard. At 85 Kg, you are on the light side for this board. You probably should consider the 9 3 ripper.

My mate is an excellent Shortboarder and 73kg and only just managed to start off on a 9 3 ripper. Would be a big mistake IMO.

I reckon the 96WR is pushing it, based on my mates (and my own) history with em.

So i guess thats a tick for the waa then.

I guess im wrong now after finding out that the wripper is not a good board at 85kg

Just a little confused there as its for upto 100kg.

You implied you were a beginner, the 100kg rating is for an advanced rider. 9 6 WR wouldn't be much different stabilty wise to the 9 6 AA I would have thought. Probably should get an opinion from someone who has ridden both.

Light side uh' this make no sense. 85 is not light for this stick

Hi BP
From my personal experience. I purchased the 9'6WR as it was a good deal.
At the time I was a complete novice and 95kg. I had been riding a borrowed 9'8 Starboard when I had the chance. I wobbled around caught waves on th 9'6WR and lost nearly 15kg. Having said that I have recently purchased the Starboard 10'5. A board I can also put the kids on. I had this board in decent waves the first time I rode it. I haven't been back on the 9'6WR.

The larger more stable board just adds up to more fun for me at this time.

BP,just buy one or the other,at 85 kegs you'll be fine either way.
After 6 months, you will be able to make your own call and move
on if need be.
ps.just get one and get into it
pps,the only reason you won the rugby is,we have a kiwi as a coach

BP,

Buy the 9'6WRipper I want to see you suffer!

I have ridden both boards and at 107.5 (winter hybernation mode) according to the lie detector. My wide ass is fine on both.

So at 107.5 I must tilt the sucker of the possible scale???

I think the DC 9.4 has less litres again!

The Doggy Rides a 9'3 Naish and he is a 50 pie a day man! I can't even stand on the 9'3 Banana Boat

Right on! Just make your move and get a board man..........Since boards seem hard to come by over there at the moment, it seems like the second hand market will be buoyant for some time to come which will help if you want to sell off your board in a years time.

Once you get in the water, the cost of your board will be the furthest thing from your mind so quit worrying about it. Just get yourself a board of some sort and get in on all this fun we're having without you man! Ronnie

Aloha Border paul. What I meant on the light side, is that in my opinion, you could ride the 9 3 ripper at your weight. I wasnt clear that you were just beginning in SUP. It really depends what kind of ride you are looking at. If you want to surf your SUP shortboard style, you cant beat the PSH ripper boards. It really comes down to experience and weight. Both 96 WR and the 93 R are great shortboard feeling SUP boards!

You would have o be the greatest tyre kicker of all time .
Have spent a fair bit of time on both.WAA has maybe a little more glide and fractionally more stable but can camp on its nose which is fun for mine at 98 kg.
The WR will help you on late take offs and punching through whitewater a little more easily.
Actually the WAA appears to have a little more tail rocker than the WR,
I have been at this caper for 2 years. For 6 months you won't even notice the difference.

GO DO BP!![/b]

BP,
if you haven't got excellent balance, don't have some sort of water-sports experience under your belt, &/or are not a lightweight, then you're going to spend some time falling off initially no matter what sup you're on. The smaller (shorter/narrower) the sup, the more you're going to fall off.
It depends whether you don't mind working harder to surf the board, rather than working harder to paddle & balance. If it's the former, go longer.
There's a guy over here who's an experienced longboarder & experienced paddle-boarder. Not sure how much he weighs, possibly a bit heavier than you (95kgs??). He bought a new sup a few weeks back: 10'6" WAA, loves it.
