
start a branch of supsa in your area for insurance purposes,shouldnt be too big a drama,keep it low key,not too much club politics,only need three members for a quorum,be under the supsa banner,hold a comp,they will come,find a sponsor,shouldnt be too hard if you look around,most companies are willing to have naming rights and will supply a board or paddle for prizes,hold a paddle race or two,to take care of the enduro crew and a surf event for the interested,try a division or two ,you know over 40s under 40s plus a womens if there are any that will compete ,get a tee shirt printed to mark the event,post your intentions on this site.boys its that easy to get our own identity,our own rules and our own judges.peer judging is the backbone of all good contest,ie you judge on a roster basis after you surf,once everyone learns the judging criteria it works a treat.been there with early days in noosa mal club when contest were fun and we judged ourselves and had a ball.these days there are too many events held over too many days.,try and keep it down to friday to sunday at the max,the trick is to keep it simple and give the punters something back for their entry money,ie free board raffle for all contestants and good fun entertainment at a central location each night for the party boys,oh throw in something to keep the wives and girlfriends happy,remember happy wife happy life.
