At SUPSA, we like the ladies that much that we reckon one Mothers Day just isn't enough. So we are going to do it all again next SUNDAY, the 17th of MAY at PALM BEACH PARKLANDS.

For ladies, we are running a "DASH FOR CASH" with a $50 Myer Voucher up for grabs. Events Director, Iron Phil Gregory will lay out the course on Sunday morning so expect a challenge!! This will be a flat water paddle.

We also want to promote the sport to the kids as much as possible and also make sure that they don't get forgotton, so we are running a "KID'S RACE" on the flat water as well. We would really like to see as many kids as possible out on the water having a go. For the kids, the girl winner will recieve a half hour Paddle Lesson with Angie from ROAR INDUSTRIES and for the boy winner a half hour paddle lesson with Dave from GREENLINE PADDLESURF. The lessons will run immediately after the kids have finished their race. Again Iron Phil will set out the course. (Can we ask that we get some adult volunteers to position themselves on the water for the kids safety and for directions if needed)

With the Honolua Race looming, we will run a fun paddle from Snapper to Currumbin for those that are up for it. If the winds aren't with us for that, we will run from somewhere around Nobby's to Currumbin. Those that want to use it as a chance o get on the water on experience a distance ocean paddle are most welcome as well. Distance will be about 8 klms.

Please note the START TIMES for the this SUNDAY;

For those wanting to do the distance paddle MEET PALM BEACH PARKLANDS at 6.30 AM

Main Fun Day Activities - MEET PALM BEACH PARKLANDS at 9.00am.

Of course, flat water paddles, free surf are on as well. As usual, we will fire up the SUPSA BBQ for the traditional FREE SAUSAGE SIZZLE at around 11.00am.

Look forward to seeing everyone there and don't forget to bring along all your friends.

Chris

Hi Mac, yeah heard on the grapevine that we were probably a bit too light on the hard sell of joining up, that's why this month I will be dressed totally in black PVC and weilding a whip in one hand and a holding a bunch of application forms in the other ... think that will get the message across.
Palm Beach Parklands .... where the last one was, where the old Palm Beach Currumbin Bowls Club was, park just on the left before you head over the Currumbin Bridge on the Gold Coast Highway.
As for Angie being your instructor, no, best I can offer is a chupa chup

Sure was mac - jazz and I did a practice run for the Honolua. We made land eventually but would have been better if the wind wasn't so offshore and blowing us out to sea. Looking forward to doing it again early sunday morning.

How's the new board going?

As a committee member, I am only running a show that reflects the true wishes of the paid up members of the club ..... was that the correct answer Eddie?

hey!! - is the early morning distance paddle just a cruisy group paddle ?? or are people going to be treating it as a practice race and will be smashing it as fast as possible ?

I would expect that there will be a few that absolutely go for it and if the conditions are right, reckon there will be some cruisers as well.
Those that hammer it and arrive back first at Palm Beach Parklands will also get the great honour of putting the marquee up and BBQ!!!
