A big CONGRATULATIONS to Paul!!! Here's an excerpt from the latest Naish newsletter.

Team Naish Welcomes Paul Jackson!

"Naish is pleased to announce that Aussie ripper Paul Jackson has joined our SUP team. If you have not yet heard of him, you will soon - Paul has an extensive track record that includes the Australian Wave Riding title for kiteboarding, 1st at the Bowen Classic, and 1st at the Coronet Classic (both kiteboarding). As for his achievements in Stand-up paddling: 2nd at the Coffs Harbour Nations 25 km race 2008, 2nd at the Seaway to Seaway 40 km race 2008, 4th at the Jever World Cup 10 km race Hamburg 2009, and 4th at the Jever World Cup 10 km race Hamburg 2009 just to name a few. His resume also includes television appearances on Fuel T.V. and Totally Wild, a movie role in 12X, and numerous magazine articles - Paul is definitely a man on the move!

Welcome from Team Naish!"

That's a shame some of the Qld shapers who are represented on here couldn't have signed up Paul!

What ya wanna bet that someone will be along here shortly and raise the "this is shameless advertising" banner up the flagpole?

Quite a resume! Good luck to ya Paul!

what oz shaper has the money to throw at local talent ,apart from the odd board at cost price there is nothing in it until we all support local shapers.and shame on you stndup for trying to incite a riot.jacko is an obvious race talent and deserves anything he can get from any corner.

I do find it rather funny how people go on about naish, But i must say they are the only company that is first out early and show cases there boards.

Sure they have the funds to do so, But make you think that these funds may also come from the hendreds of boards sold in the last 2 months or so when others are just considering there shapes still.

Just my thoughts, I like naish but i would not buy one as i would never be able to decide if im a sup rider or a windsurfer.

I do like the glide though

Well, actually mate, it is often you who turns a thread into a local vs offshore issue........Guys come on here and discuss the boards they ride and even though most (90% anyways) have no incentive to support a particular brand, you manage to "incite a riot".

I spoke with the guy that you represent recently and he pretty much informed me his boards wouldn't work for me. It was really a shame that he didn't want to discuss how he might be able to design a custom board for me, my style (or lack thereof) and my location. I thought his designs looked nice and I had heard great feedback on them at the time.

I'm pretty sure that McTavish, Billabong, Rip Curl or any of the other major manufacturers here in Australia have the money to support an up and coming Aussie. NO, they aren't heavily into the SUP movement at the moment (in regards to board production), but they are massive conglomerates who could surely build some boards and sponsor some local talent!

My purpose for making the comment was so that I didnt have to read 10 pages of how Ali Cat was promoting Naish by making this announcement. Nuff said.............

ONCE AGAIN, CONGRATULATIONS PAUL! Great to see the Aussie's breaking into ths sponsorship stakes!

STNDUP, are you kidding , Naish is ONLY sponsoring Paul to promote themselves . Naish is trying to gain market acceptance , respect ,cred , recognition and yes, sales . Is there anything wrong with that ? Probably not, but we're not mugs are we? . We can tell when we're being spruiked . This isn't tall poppy syndrome , its being skeptical and knowing when someone's having a lend of you .

Thanks guys for any support, hopefully this dose not true in to a bitching thread as I'm not worth it

I super stoked to be riding for naish as i really gel with there boards and I'm not a windsurfer I have ridin plenty of boards from locals to other brands and for me Naish is going in the same direction and after talking with Robby it just cemented what i was already thinking.

There are so many Aussies that deserve good sponsorship and that rip and paddle so hard and hopefully the company's will see that and get behind us 100%

Yes casso i have some big plans and doing some vids and getting a heap of shots is part of it. Maybe I'll work out a deal with DJ, i send him photo's and he can write the story

i dont represent anyone,i own and surf local boards all paid for with hard earned money, the three different local shapes i own are all good boards and i will have no guilt in sprucing australian shapers.i have surfed nealy all of the major os boards and still prefer custom shapes anyday.when my comments are off key laurie will bar me.
I'm pretty sure that McTavish, Billabong, Rip Curl or any of the other major manufacturers here in Australia have the money to support an up and coming Aussie. well done mate. youre right ,youre not worth it
if any one on the coast deserves a spono deal its paul,
sponsers look for riders that not only rip, put also represent. paul does both.
he'd be the first one in the line up to offer anyone a ride on his board. naish or not.
very envious.
youve got my support.

I remeber when i got picked to join a overseas kitesurfing company, Such a awsome feeling just to be able to represent.
Hard work i guess as it was not just riding, a lot of the time i was at the water wind blowing the queens nickers off and i had to just chat and give advise

Loved it though. Injoy the ride paul it sounds like you deserve it mate.

PS: Hey Firstpoint - you know PSH love supporting Aussie talent!! In fact we would have loved to support you and Annie when you approached us back in 2007 but unfortunately we did not have a small enough board in the line - thats my recollection.
