Feel for you BP. What a bummer Having worked as an operations manager for a transport company in Auckland I can tell you unless it has fragile stickers all over it then its pot luck whether you get it in one piece or not. Even with fragile stickers some clowns see it as a challenge and couldn't give a fig. Hope it gets resolved quick for you.

Hi.

Thanks guys for the support, Well it was not a good day was it.

The box had fragile all over it, But the box itself when it came out the truck the driver looked at me and said sorry. I knew straight away he meant not sorry for the delay but the way it looked.

The damage is not over the top, Main stuff is 2 pressures on the bottom aprox 15/20cm long by 1cm wide. Rails have smaill indentations, The nose has a small crack just at the tip, and the deck has 2 or 3 small dings one is deeper than the others but almost cracked. If the damage was deck only it woul be worth a repair and grip over it.

Now i can see the board in the morning light its not verry good to see the love of my life turn up like this.

I guess as AA mentioned the freight compant needs to inspect it. The photos are hard to see because of the reflections.

I was and am still angry over it, But i also can feel for AA he is also stressed and this on top of what a great job he does already.

I sent him the photos etc with emails which i guess did have a tone of anger but this is not directed at AA more just venting.

AA is onto it with yet another offer of a replacment board.

I have requested that he pull the board out at his factory and check it first for damage at his end. Then apply the grip and wrap in extra bubble wrap as extra protection. Then once he is happy with the package place it back in the box.

The only thing i recomend to psh is not to place the fins against the board if something is placed on the box the fins dig into the board.

But as mentioned AA is onto it straight away and i thank him for that.

Last night i was starting to realy think if its worth the effort. But lets remember its not the shop or the sender. Its the company that freights it and could not care if its wort $5 or 5 million.

Thanks pete, bit of a let down it was after being so excited about the delivery.

AA is looking after me but at the same time realy considering looking in my own back yard, Sure the choice here is not as good but i can see it.

Having bounced of the rails of a PSH Wido Maker recently, fallen on it, dropped it, face planted several times, nutted myself, etc.

You would seriously have to abuse it to the extreme in transport one would think to damage it.

What damage, where and how much?

Phill

I dont know if i agree with you there phill, I am comming to the conclusion the boards are pretty soft in the deck and bottom. .

I think BC and AA need to do a few quality quality checks on some of there board comming in from china. IMHO

BP, not much anyone can do about this sort of treatment!

We re-packed this board, added extra protection and put Fragile/Top Load stickers on every surface.

This sort of abuse is basically beyond anyones control, and inexcusable!
The freight company know this and have offered to exchange it free of charge, which is basically unheard of in my experience. Most freight companies will not take any responsibility. This one has.

As for your conclusion? I think your pictures tell the story.

That wet patch on the ground is where i was gribbling when i started to open it up, But soon ended in a puddle of tears.

I do agree AA that the treatment is well beyond anything i have seen before.

I do think that if you stick a 12ft ripper on the side or the W Ripper and deck pads for stock on the other side.

I should get here ok.

My new board, ummm third board

I think i have a agreement with AA to do the deck grip for me and with that little kicker verry handy, As seen before sending for protection. And add a little more cardboard or bubbles.
I think thick cardboard would do better than bubble wrap.

We have decided on white for reasons being if the board arrives with a crack to the rail /tail /nose etc it can be repaired easy and matched.

But as he mentioned the box realy had a hard life on the way.

So knowing that did you have them supervised, re trained....then sacked if it continued??

How did you feel knowing your staff were deliberately breaking stuff?

Kagey,

I ended up sacking the main culprit after I followed him one day and caught him smoking wacky backy around the corner from the depot. My secretary almost had a fit as he belonged to Black Power...like I cared a ****

I often had to have meetings with companies we had contracts with due to the behaviour of certain employees or their rough handling of goods. Two strikes with remedial training and third time was out. These people are the front face of the business and as such if cannot represent the company in the best light then its pack your bags and go do your haka somewhere else...no offence Kagey but I just wouldn't put up with that **** and that included the pakehas as well.

Sorry mate, getting steamed up just remembering the **** I had to put up including the BP threats (no, not you Border Paul).

No offence taken fella, good to know you took a stand. I really feel for BP (not Black power lol) poor buggers' had 2 knackered boards, and although I was taken aback when you mentioned people breaking 'FRAGILE' stuff on purpose, I then realised I was being niaive as some people have a bizarre mentality don't they?

BP did mention something about a quality issue as well as the obvious damage though. Now I realise these PSH boards surf well as the feedback is 100% positive, however am I right in saying the pop outs are manufactured in China? If so does Blane have someone there carrying out quality checks and are the boards under the same scrutiny that say surftech are for example?

Kagey,

I have 2 PSH SUP's that have no manufacturing issues at all. I also seen some PSH boards today from the latest shipment and you couldn't fault the workmanship. I dunno, maybe Paul has been extremely unlucky.

BTW I purchased another brand name SUP recently and the quality is absolutely crap...it is being replaced by a new one which should arrive next month. It has that many manufacturing faults it's not funny.

At the prices they charge there certainly needs to be a major lift in quality control before they leave the factory

BTW BP never got me

AA has said he will move the earth to get me a replacment to me by end of week

This board here has to go to the freight company to be checked but as this has nothing to do with me what so ever, I do somewhat expect the replacment to be in the mail tommorow.

But i will allow a day for AA to put that huge brown camo grip on I hope he has a sharp blade for those cuts.

And thomo, I was talking rugby as we all like a banter, But you ended up making it into a biffo over sup, Unfair mate you want to try and be in my shoes.

I am doing my verry best to hold my head up and crack a smile over the situation as it is just one big pile of bad luck.

I do have other board options here, Not my first choice but here all the same.

I will be getting a more modern design board or build it in the future.
I wanted lenght for more glide on down winders and the size doesnt bother me alot
as all I know is riding my 12ft Munoz.
I hope I have better luck than BP
